WE PREFER TO SLUT SHAME PROSTITUTES THAT ARE LICENSED THANK YOU VERY MUCH

cmon, sugaring is a gray area at least.

Sugaring is prostitution for sure. That’s not my point. One state licenses escorts. That document does not read like it’s written by someone who knows what they are talking about.

I’m all for shaming if it’s true and she is on the record as anti-sex work.

It helps explain why she’s so committed to helping the poor.

It doesn’t read like it’s true but I don’t care. She’s a trash person in a position of power who’s doing her level best to take away women’s rights while protecting policies that get kids shot.

If this isn’t true the real problem is that there aren’t similar falsehoods circulating about a dozen other Republicans.

this is just gonna get semantical but i disagree unless there’s an exchange of cash or goods in exchange for sex, lots of times it’s just gals (or guys) that like to travel and eat nice dinners and lonely older dudes that for whatever reason can’t or won’t date. there isn’t even an expectation of sex a lot of time.

src: few friends that basically make a career doing this and seem to have a way better life than me

It’s like any dating site. Only difference is the implicit transaction of cash.

I’ve know many people who were both sugar babies and daddies. 100% of the time money is exchanged.

It’s higher risk than escorting for sure as it attracts younger woman who don’t have exposure to sex work safety precautions, screening and ethics.

It’s mostly people who want to escort but want to pretend they are not escorting or hiring escorts. It tends to be far more exploitive than escorting and far cheaper for the daddies.

As for powerful people. Most daddies are just upper middle class regular guys. It’s not all ceos and stuff. :)

I had seizures when quitting cigarettes cold turkey.

To be fair, I’m an epileptic. But it is possible for some to have severe withdrawal.

Don’t think that was nicotine withdrawal though.

I’ve had epilepsy for over 25 years and I had two breakthrough seizures in a day while dealing with nicotine withdrawal early on and noted an increase in seizures when quitting. I haven’t had more than one seizure of any kind in a single day let alone two breakthroughs.

Was worth it to kick smoking though.

I’m not an expert, but my wife has epilepsy and during the period when her seizures were not well-controlled stress and lack of sleep definitely made things worse.

This is an over-generalization, I’ve known cases where it wasn’t. There’s a broad range of activity out there, from straightforward sex work to non-sexual escorting for money to women wanting to date upmarket men. I knew a woman with two young children who did it just to date, the transactional nature of things didn’t bother her as she wasn’t looking for a relationship anyway and she found it kind of exciting. The men she saw were in the first instance just paying for dates, operating under the same rule as normal dates (i.e. if she liked them they might hook up and if she didn’t that would be it). But that’s a best-case scenario and I have also heard some extremely gross stories of exploitation.

A friend of mine ended up marrying a sugar baby, they have two children.

Sure there are edge cases. A very tiny fraction of sugar relationships don’t involve money. The vast majority are some form of money exchange for intimacy, both physical and emotional.

As I said, I know maybe 15 people who have been either babies or daddies and all involved money.

I tried to find actual stats and can’t seem to but I would put the over/under at 2% that involve no exchange of money.

I get annoyed at the desire to focus on the edge cases. All it does if downplay the fact that most sugar relationships are a form of sex work. It’s just a subtle form of sex work hierarchy which hurts all workers and weakens the case for decriminalization.

Kind of reminds me of that really disturbing story on 22 of the poster marrying his tenant.

I’m sure anyone who read it knows what I’m talking about.

I coulda swore that was Sklansky.

Not the one I was thinking of. Even Sklansky tries to minimize or obscure any exploitation that is taking place. This dude really leaned into it.
