Several posters, most notably Riverman, expressed disagreement with allowing a trans-woman to swim against cis-women in a college competition. This was described as anti-trans. Nevertheless, I donât think we would need to worry about Riverman or any of the others âvoting republican anywaysâ.

I get what you are saying. But just a reminder that trans issues are economic issues. Trans people are more likely to be shut out of effective employment than almost any other demographic. Likewise they struggle across almost every other economic measure.

I donât even understand what specifically âoveremphasisâ means in this context. As long as Dems try to treat trans people as real human beings the outrage machine is going to cry about it.
Dems probably shouldnât make protecting trans rights a campaign issue except in ads micro-targeted at encouraging young people to vote. Dems should use limited time to talk about the good things they would do on the economy rather than pushing back against anti-trans conservative talking point. Something for trans rights in a reconciliation bill shouldnât be a deal breaker if it gets removed. Donât get into a fight with anyone who doesnât want to use terms like Latinx. Donât allow it to look like Dems are spending more time working on trans issues instead of inflation.
