Because they supported him. They gave him an important speaking opportunity at the 2004 national convention where there were already predictions that he is a rising star that was going to run for president.
Why would they stop him? What did he try to do that runs against the party line?

Itās this. The establishment assassinates talented people they see as a threat, usually long before they can get big enough to cause real trouble. I still am slightly grateful every day I wake up and AOC hasnāt been assassinated yet.
Iām not quite that despondent yet, but keeping all my options open.

If (and I know Iām reaching) it turns out to be an unexpected monster night for Democrats, I think everyone is GREATLY underestimating (or not even thinking about) how much of a shit show all the claims about voter fraud etc. will be from the right.
Yeah itās bad. John Oliver was kind enough to play the tape of Trump asking the GA SOS to commit fraud last night. Itās actually insane, yet so on brand, that dems did nothing aboht it.
How is that not played on every single political ad? Itās clear as day.

I could easily see 1/6 style insurrections at state capitols in PA, WI, MI, NV, AZ, GA, and maybe a few others.
Dem Senate control is down to +285/-365 at the book i mostly use. Iām not sure what price it would take to get me to bet Dems at this point.
As an Atlantan I would LOL heartily at RWNJs sacking the state Capitol, home to multiple institutions that have methodically cemented their interests for a generation.

On the other hand if it is a monster night for the GOP, then that just further proves 2020 was rigged because how could it swing that much otherwise. Also if it is just an average night Iām sure that also proves rigged elections as well.
