Voted today for noted third party candidate Chuck Schumer

Also convinced my wife to vote early so she doesnā€™t forget about it on election day

He is trying is hardest to do a white Obama impression but it falls flat for me.

Yeah, exactly this.

To be fair, even though it falls flat, there are plenty of dems who do even worse.

Heā€™s definitely biting Obamaā€™s pacing and inflection, but the content itself is extremely good.

Omg some e-dem committee member on CNN right now talking about how early voting indicates Dems are gonna win the house

We just found out that the mystery independent poll (possibly even GOP-funded) has us 8 points ahead.

Which explains the CDP dumping $1.1m in our race in the last few weeks.

they couldnā€™t stop obama or trump from beating the most e dem person in existence in the last 20 years but they can stop progressives easily

Iā€™m laughing so hard this is the same narcissistic crap over and over again, if they fail itā€™s their fault but if we fail itā€™s someone elseā€™s fault

you just donā€™t have the votes you think you do yet simple as that youā€™re gaining though

Not at the start.

Then we still got 46% in the primary without doing any real campaigning, so we figured it would be a toss up.

The poll we did in August showed us virtually tied (ahead but still within the margin of error)

They werenā€™t trying to stop Obama the way they were trying to stop Bernie, or any number of other progressives in other less prominent primaries.

Trump is another issue, thatā€™s a real fight. The Washington Generals comparison is that when they have power theyā€™re throwing the game for Corporate America on a bunch of issues. When they donā€™t have power, theyā€™re generally trying to get it, but so are the Republicans, who are also competent political operators.

Nah, Iā€™m on record repeatedly saying Bernie fucked up in several ways, Warren fucked up her own race, etc. But the eDems were also definitely competent in going after them and other progressives in ways they would never go after other establishment Dems. The whole ā€œwe always back incumbentsā€ thing only applies when the incumbent is an eDem.

What Iā€™m saying here is that when the establishment Democrats have political power, they ~never use it to do anything that would be harmful to Corporate America.

Both can be true.

Do you have any idea of the MOE on the +8 poll? I assume itā€™s a smaller sample and a bigger MOE than other polls, if theyā€™re throwing major resources at it. Seems like if they had +8 with a 3 point MOE they wouldnā€™t need to throw resources at it.

Nope. Nothing but Toni Atkins telling us ā€œ8 pointsā€. It was an independent expenditure, so they canā€™t really share any real data with us.

At this point I hope the Dems lose every race except skydivers.

If the US elects @skydiver8 in 2024 my faith in democracy will be renewed.

I agree democrats work for their corporate overlords like any other politician but I wish people would stop bringing up Bernie as an example of when they stepped in to stop someone. Bernie supports good policies but has no clue how to build a coalition that would actually give him the power to change anything. He should never have been the person challenging Hillary and Biden and not having a better candidate to actually run against those two is the biggest issue with the left wing of the democrats. The democrats didnā€™t have to do anything smart or special to stop Bernie from winning even when their corporate candidates where terrible.

I agree with most of that but itā€™s a big circle. Likeā€¦

Sure but itā€™s hard to build a bench when theyā€™re fighting tooth and nail to stop you in the primaries. Then thereā€™s the woman who won the Buffalo mayoral primary 52-45, so the incumbent Dem ran a write-in campaign and beat her in the general. No sore loser law to stop it.

Her name was India Walton and she would have/could have been a rising star on the left wing of the Democratic Party, but they made sure to stop her. Thatā€™s why there arenā€™t a bunch of better left wing candidates.

Probs true but also good advertisment for why politics is a giant fucking joke (especially now and probably forever)

How did this go down? Write in won a 3 way, with Dem and Republican? Or was there no Republican and Dem write in just won the rematch?

Same thing as Murkowski in the 2010 Alaska Senate race. The incumbent got primaried but ran as a write-in against a D and an R and won.

Good god please no anything but that

Iā€™m a behind-the-scenes kind of person. Just the thought of all the clothes Iā€™d have to buy makes me want to scream (I HATE shopping)
