Man, blue team has pretty incredible strategic acumen when it comes to knifing a progressive in the back in a primary.

Can you give some examples of the issues they have moved a ways left on, the position in 2009-2016 and the position now?

You have to learn to distinguish between not being willing to blow up norms to achieve a policy goal in a functional democracy where both sides uphold norms, and not being willing to blow up norms to achieve a policy goal in the United States of America in 2022 against a party nuking norms left and right to achieve their policy goals.

Once you learn that, you can then ask yourself the real question: “Why won’t these morons blow up norms to achieve broadly popular policy goals, like free and fair elections?”

They don’t want to nuke the filibuster because the filibuster is very good for corporate America. If they could push a button and codify Roe in a vacuum, they would do it. But given a choice between making it easier for popular bills to pass the Senate and saving Roe, or not making it easier for popular bills to pass the Senate and watching Roe die, they’re choosing the second one every time… because popular bills are often bad for corporate America.

This is why 51 or 52 won’t be enough, and probably not 55 either. Coons or Carper will find a reason to oppose nuking the filibuster, or someone else will, etc. There was a report somewhere along the way that it wasn’t actually just Sinema and Manchin, they were just the only ones admitting it publicly. It was actually more like six or seven Dems unwilling to nuke the filibuster. That was pre-Dobbs, but I doubt that changed many minds.

Trafalgar Poll 11/4

Shapiro 49.7 (+4.3%)
Mastriano 45.4

Oz 47.7 (+2.2%)
Fetterman 45.5

Lot of split balloting for that to happen… I think Fetterman’s collapse is jeopardizing the gubernatorial race. People who would vote Republican or not at all probably thought Oz and Mastriano were both losers, and Fetterman and Shapiro were whatever, and now they are being convinced it’s important to show up to block Fetterman so they’ll vote Team Red up and down the ballot.

Also a bad Trafalgar poll for us in the WI gubernatorial race.

Asian voters seem like the next domino to fall.

Hochul campaigning with Bill Clinton yesterday

Lol. Humans deserve to fail as a species if anyone believes Biden is the problem and not the guy who repeatedly said China virus and Kung Flu.

Nevermind the fact that these types of ads are allowed and corporations can donate to PACs and fund this shit. This is beyond depressing.

I’ve mentioned Citizens for Sanity a few times itt. It is so nauseating that they are allowed to exist.

Young turning out bigly. 175% of them are Dems.

Yeah my wife watches a bunch of crap on streaming apps with ads and it plays one of their ads over and over.

  1. Stoke anti-Asian violence and racism
  2. Blame Democrats for it
  3. Win Asian votes

God Bless America

I laugh so hard at the constant ridiculousness it takes to believe both that the democrats are the washington generals of politics but also masterminds at keeping progressives down in politics

it can’t be both guys, it can’t be both

Don’t know if you’ve ever seen the show but the Washington Generals lose on purpose against the Harlem Globetrotters.

The Washington Generals get paid to lose to the Globetrotters. They don’t actually suck that much, they’re professional basketball players.

The Washington Generals don’t allow players on the team who will try to win.

The establishment Democrats exist primarily as part of the act wherein Corporate America and the wealthy own our government. The Democrats are effectively stooges for the interests of corporations.

While the Republicans obliterate norms and move the country to the right, the Democrats attempt to play a “normal” game of politics. The Democrats play genuinely at times, usually on social issues that don’t impact corporations, but they never threaten corporate control of the political system.

Almost every cycle ends in a victory for the wealthy. Despite their failures politically, the Democrats roster consists of generally competent political operators.

A recurring part of the act is the occasional progressive challenger, when for a short period it appears a progressive has some hope, before the establishment Democrats competently knife them in the back.

While the Democrats are closely associated with our corporate overlords, they were for much of their history an independent organization. In 2010, after Citizens United, they were purchased by the highest bidders.
