I’m also curious about how this compares to his pre-stroke baseline. Part of his affect is talking like a regular person, unpolished and with a lot of “you know”s. Which I guess can be relatable(?) But a bigger part of it is seeming unable to find the words he means which looks just terrible.
Maybe the takeaway is that a solid or neutral debate performance is meaningless but a very bad performance can be devastating, especially with clips flying around on social media.
Maybe it’s even more important now to have a lot of good “zingers” that have the potential to go viral and overwhelm other shortcomings.
Meghan McCain concern trolling about UNBIASED JOURNALISM being the problem here lolol. Also looks like she’s been hitting those Dr. Oz diet pills pretty hard, or maybe crystal meth.
The host of the highest profile show on the “liberal” channel, GOP congressturd Joe Scarborough, is going ham on Fetterman clearly impaired, because of course.
Sadly aphasia is completely different from intellect, a point which will not be highlighted. My Dad had all is marbles after his stroke, his processing bandwidth was just narrower.
Oz did get this beauty of a statement out. There better be a commercial with a woman, her doctor, and some old man politician in the exam room by tomorrow.
The commercial I’d do is a pregnant woman in the stirrups, shot from her perspective, and then Oz comes in and says “Spread 'em wide, lady! We gotta get the whole city counsel in here to get a look.”
Didn’t see any of the Fetterman/Oz debate, but based on the comments here and the fact that Oz now is 65 cents on Predictit, I’m assuming that this was historically bad.
Based on everything everyone has posted, sounds like he’s not even wrong. What’s he supposed to do? Just go full FOX News, pretend it never happened, and never even bring up the subject?
If the goal was to advance some left leaning agenda then of course. But that isn’t what a MSNBC or CNN is for. It’s to do the exact opposite while pretending they are.
I think if you asked them, they would say that it’s their job to just report what happens. Fetterman got his ass beat, so that’s what they’re reporting.
Even if you argue that they’re lying, it’s at least, in theory, what news is supposed to be.
Note: Have not seen the commentary in question or even the debate, so I’m just guessing here.
I mean I mostly agree, but the WaPo and NYT were blasting him for not debating. Obviously if a Republican doesn’t debate, they get different treatment. Same for an eDem, but not for a progressive.
Don’t worry, they’ll be getting spliced up clips that look even worst plastered across their TV in prime time ads every day between now and 11/8.
The best part is that if Oz wins it’s because Fetterman is “clearly not fit for office” because “he can’t form coherent sentences.” Also, here’s Senator Walker to tell us about his plan on air movement and oh look is that his badge?
Maybe point out that not being able to speak clearly after a stroke is not the same as not being able to think clearly after a stroke. Then maybe play some clips of Republican senators vomiting up incoherent word salads on the Senate floor.
