2022 Midterm Elections (Abandon hope all ye who enter here) butnahhh. or maybe?

I just watched a random 30 second bite and it was:

Crist: DeSantis is making it harder to vote, that’s anti-democracy.
DeSantis: You know what isn’t fair? Womens sports!

Debates are the most meaningless bullshit in our political system. Nobody who is in tune enough to watch a debate hasn’t already made up their mind.

Perhaps, but doing it on an abortion bill is thankfully an untenable non starter.

The Democrats strategy for the last 20 years and hold your nose centrist voting already led to Trump.

National politics is a lost cause. It is not at all obvious to me that there is anything worth saving even if it could be. Focus on local issues and races and pray the republicans are too incompetent to hold the country together as a fascist whole.

Find me a better issue. It has to be something where you need progressive votes because there’s no compromise that can bring a Mitt Romney-type Republican onboard.

Anyways, corporate Democrats aren’t really the problem. The problem is corporations themselves. As long as there are corporations that can back someone, they will find someone to back. Rooting for the failure of eDems doesn’t change that. You should be rooting for the failure of corporations themselves, for the failure of corporations deemed too-big-to-fail, for the stock market to crash, and for the economy to get fucked much worse than any of us have seen in our lifetimes.

It took an economic crisis like the Great Depression to pave the way for the New Deal. Corporations did fine during the crisis that was Trump and COVID. We’re not going to get the change we need until corporations suffer. And if corporations suffer, the common folk are going to suffer. So, you have to be on board with allowing the masses to suffer for the greater good. Well, maybe not if you figure out some sort of shortcut involving things like guillotines…

He just doesn’t have it.

By all accounts DeSantis has zero interpersonal skills. Unfortunately he’s somehow excellent at tapping into the Fox News zeitgeist. Basically a pure calculating sociopath.

You could tell he’s ultra weird just by watching him during the debate while Crist talked. Weird head lolling, tics, odd “smile”

As was observed on Chapo, DeSantis has a minor case of gay man voice, I’m not suggesting he is gay but he has a slightly prissy tone to his voice. I feel like he is going to play very badly next to Trump on stage.

Trump will tear “Harvard Ron” to shreds on stage.

Assuming either of them get on stage. Avoiding debates has clearly been the pro move for Republicans since 2016.

My offer still stands. You can buy out at 75%. Just let me now.

I’m staying strong with this wager. DeSantis is the clear choice for the modern day republican who wants to show everyone, “Hey, we’re pretty normal, we just really like owning libs! - and denying fundamental rights to people we aren’t comfortable around.”

I hope DJT comes up with something good for him.

Truly weird Senator Rand Paul is pretty good.

Christ asked him something along the lines of “you seem awfully concerned about Biden, while I care more about the people of Florida… Yes or no, can you tell the people of Florida that you will serve a full 4 years if you are elected, or will you abandon them in 2 years to run for president?”

That’s cool. All I’m saying is that Trump has chunks of guys like Ronnie in his stool.

We’re not lucky enough for the universe to serve DeSantis up to Trump with some fava beans. Either the GOP will make a grand bargain with Trump to stand down (could be a polonium bargain), or DeSantis will wait. DeSantis isn’t dumb enough to go after Trump head-on.
