What Monica Klein is doing is trying to discredit endorsements made by the NYT. Specifically, she is attacking the endorsement of Sean Patrick Maloney, who is being opposed by her preferred candidate, Alessandra Biaggi, and of Dan Goldman, who is trying to buy a seat against Mondaire Jones.

In fairness, ol’ Jerrold Nadler was pretty correct - Plan B works to prevent pregnancy in 3 ways:

• delays ovulation
• blocks fertilization
• block implantation of a fertilized egg in the uterus by changing the uterine lining

The framing of this plan B stuff by the interviewers/Twitter outrage crew is just completely unhelpful. Honestly we probably can’t say precisely how majority of medications work in a way today that will still be considered fully accurate in 50 years as new stuff about them always being discovered.

The question the interviewer needs to ask and politicians need to know answer to is simple.

“Does plan B prevent pregnancy or cause an abortion?”

The Catholic ethicists can debate that to their hearts content, but I don’t think joining the debate is helpful so better just to work on baseline assumption that pregnancy is defined by implantation and move on.

Well, that’s your assumption. And my assumption. But if you’re pro-life, it probably isn’t. And while pro-lifers make some pretty illogical arguments from time to time, that one isn’t exactly crazy.
