Gay or Lesbian = 3%? Not sure about that one. Is that the accepted figure?

Canada’s official number is 4%.

Interesting. For as long as I can remember I have always thought it was between 5-10%. I don’t even remember where I first saw that stat.

That might include people that don’t identify as gay but George Clooney makes them feel funny.

I thought it was the same, you’re not alone. 10% was always the number I remembered

I had heard 10 percent also, but that has always seemed high to me based on people I know. I mean, I am not gay or especially plugged in, but ever since college I have been in environments where people weren’t ashamed of being out, and I have always had some out people around me. If you include bi and trans people with the specifically gay or lesbian from those numbers, you get closer to the 10 percent that is bandied about, so maybe 10 percent is a better approximation of people who are queer in some way.

That’s true. Given that apparently 100 million people live in New York City, I guess it’s not surprising that two thirds of them are transgender.

I’m sure this won’t be a popular opinion here, but I have always felt that there is an inverse relationship between how enjoyable a game show is and how much knowledge and skill there is in the game. Jeopardy, for example, is easily the most insufferable show on television. But The Price is Right is always fun to watch and Card Sharks was even better. Also that show with the Whammies.

The GOAT game show when I was young was something put on by the Ohio State Lottery Commission called Cash Explosion. Three contestants would be presented with a Jeopardy type board, but when they choose a spot instead of a question they just got a random amount of money. At the end the person who had gotten the most money won the game. That was it. It was so great. When I was in college that and the Simpsons were the only shows I never missed.

Game show fandom is about imagining how you would do in the place of the contestants. So you’re telling us you would suck at Jeopardy.

Yes I would be terrible! In addition to not getting any of the answers, my biographical details would all be made up and boring. Also, at final Jeopardy, instead of answering the question I would just doodle some nipples and dicks.

Big money no whammy! Used to love watching shitty gameshows on GSN in the mid 2000s.

This. Game shows need some element of skill so you can play along and think how’d you do better. Games like Deal or No Deal are insufferable as it’s just all random.

Growing up, my older brother and I were big whammy stans. A rube catching one was always cause for celebration.

Yea and even for D or no D the entertainment comes from watching the players make terrible strategic decisions like taking a 7k deal when they have 25 in equity.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5s look pretty fantastic. The worry is the charging availability compared to teslas though.

I just bought a hybrid Ioniq sedan, loving it so far.
