They tore up images of the Islamic Republic’s founder, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, hurled the fragments in the air and shrieked with passion, “Death to the dictator!”
The fury and desperation in their chants, and the confident arrival of Iran’s insurgent girls into the dangerous public sphere of protest is exceptional and extraordinary. They are fighting pre-emptively against a future where their bodies will continue to be controlled by the Islamic Republic. Whatever the fate of Iran’s protest movement, now entering its third week, the authorities’ feminist opposition now includes schoolchildren.

John Cleese has signed up to become a presenter on the rightwing television channel GB News, while also complaining that “cancel culture” is keeping people such as himself off TV screens.
The Monty Python star, who will present shows on GB News from next year, said: “There’s a massive amount of important information that gets censored, both in TV and in the press. In my new show, I’ll be talking about a lot of it. You should be prepared to be shocked.”
He also said Monty Python would not get commissioned by the BBC today “because it’s six white people, five of whom went to Oxbridge”.
GB News is being investigated by the media regulator Ofcom over whether claims about the impact of Covid vaccines breached the broadcasting code.
He went on the BBC In the prime national morning radio slot to fawning coverage to insist that he can’t get onto the the BBC because it’s a woke cancel factory. I’m sure he’ll do several other appearances to plug his new TV show where he is being well paid to say anything he wants but will mostly be saying that you’re not allowed to say anything any more. And you thought python was absurdist comedy.

The biggest problem with self-driving cars is that it works optimally when all the cars on the road are self-driving and communicating with each other.
Phase in self-driving cars by initially only allowing use of the self-driving function on highways and replace HOV lanes with self-driving lanes where cars are allowed to go much faster so long as control is handed over to some sort of government controller.
