To me “sex pest” greatly undersells the behavior. Like a pest is just something you ignore and shrug off, which is definitely what women have been expected to do forever, which is obviously bullshit.

Yeah that is interesting, just had a quick google and saw it used about R. Kelly by a US site and a Hong Kong site. That is definitely wrong. But “sex pest” can definitely include criminal behaviour. Like Anthony Weiner is an archetypal sex pest and he engaged in sexting with a 15 year old girl.
Yeah you can make that argument, but on the other hand the point is to belittle the accused and make them an object of ridicule rather than fear. Look at how attitudes changed on Cuomo from “POWERFUL GUY” to “wow this dude is pathetic” and think about how much easier it is for women to come forward with accusations after that.

It seems to me some people were arguing that meritocracy was a good system in theory that just did. not work in practice, whereas others argued that the whole concept was just a bogus way of obscuring the continuation of existing power structures. I was trying to agree with the latter group while making a joke.
