2022 LC Thread—New Year, New Thread

I only spent a couple of minutes looking into this but it doesn’t look like the health visitor examines the baby at all. It sounds like the health visitor can “tell you where to go” to get the baby weighed and measured (that’s the closest found, but I admittedly didn’t look that hard).

Me: this country is fucking doomed, what a fucking shithole

Also me: GTFO LIMEY BITCH USA #1

Humans were a mistake

Almost Immediately after WW2 the US began funding the “Security Batallions” who were Nazi collaborationists and anti-communists. US support of right-wing groups continued through the military junta, the brutal dictatorship of the late 60s and early 70s and (I’m not saying this to argue with you because in know you will disagree CN) many people there believe the US has some responsibility for their debt crisis, economic take over by private and international financial institutions and years of austerity programs.

This could go in any one of several threads, but I’ll stick it here.

Ohio now has a proposed Constitutional Amendment called “Medical Right to Refuse”:
https://twitter.com/joingles/status/1544322875519373312

The text is here, but the entirety of the proposed amendment is this:

Obviously the idea is that a school wouldn’t be able to require a COVID vaccine in order for students to attend. But the plain reading would also mean that schools couldn’t require any vaccinations at all. And it wouldn’t apply to just schools, either - it would apply to employers and healthcare providers. So doctors couldn’t require that their patients be vaccinated, and hospitals couldn’t require that their doctors be vaccinated. And I’m pretty sure that cities couldn’t require their bus drivers to wear corrective lenses, nor could the bureau of motor vehicles require drivers to wear corrective lenses either.

Just great stuff all around.

It’s true, I would legitimately feel owned if this were to pass.

Just the latest step in Ohio’s master plan to attract New Yorkers

(picture sourced from Reddit)

How did this Jewish libertarian from the Bronx, the child of immigrants from Eastern Europe, a self-professed anarchist (or anarcho-capitalist in his chosen term) whose entire life was dedicated to destroying the state, end up on the reading lists of so many would-be fascists? And how, as some of his followers protest, could any aspirant jackbooted thug be attracted to the thought of a man whose main contribution to discourse, as far as they are concerned, is the “Non-Aggression Principle,” where, it is thought, all political and ethical questions can be solved simply by reference to the axiom that one must never, ever violate the person or property of anyone else? (Violence can only be initiated in self-defense.) Well, with a man like Rothbard, the boundaries of the self tend to become mutable and expansive.

Wow, Weird Al really fucked up his Hamilton parody.
