Speaking of Canada

Unless it’s a rudimentary AI bot, in which case that would be standard.

I’ve gotten the 12 hour Twitter jail pop up like five times the last few days without anything happening.

Never felt so powerful in my life.

Someone launched an attack on the moon. NASA doesn’t seem to know who.

Also, CERN is about to blow up the universe:

this might be paywalled for you guys but apparently the Republicans here in MN basically got scamed by the Dems and voted to legalize THC edibles in 5 mg doses. Amazing, didn’t think we would be getting legal weed anytime soon and this just pops up in my news feed, law goes into effect tomorrow.

It’s unclear if leaders of the Republican-controlled Minnesota Senate fully realized the law would legalize delta-9 THC edibles before they agreed to pass it

Sen. Jim Abeler, R-Anoka, who chairs the Senate Human Services Reform Finance and Policy Committee, said he didn’t realize the new law would legalize edibles containing delta-9 THC before it passed. He thought the law would only regulate delta-8 THC products.

“I thought we were doing a technical fix, and it winded up having a broader impact than I expected,” Abeler said, adding that the Legislature should consider rolling the new law back.

House Democrats and Gov. Tim Walz, both of whom support recreational marijuana legalization, are unlikely to agree to such a request. Majority Leader Ryan Winkler, DFL-Golden Valley, called Abeler’s suggestion to roll back the law “ridiculous” and said Democrats have no interest in doing so.

Abeler “voted for it. He signed the conference report,” Winkler said. “This is a step forward towards a policy we strongly support.”

I guess this is good news even though the circumstances that caused it were abhorrent. The naked napalm girl is now 59 and apparently living a happy life in Canada, after a lifetime of surgeries.

She recently reunited with the photographer, who told the story of how he forced the doctors to treat her:

The 71-year-old has retired but joined her in Miami this week to mark the 50th anniversary and the end of her treatment.

“Even the doctor said she will die, no way she still alive,” he told CBS.

“I tell them three-time and they said no, then I hold my media pass and I said: ‘If she dies, my picture on every front page on every newspaper.’ And they worry when I say that and took her right away inside.”

Had a cool moment today. Today is July 1 - aka new intern day. Had a patient with a dislocated elbow who needed to be sedated for a reduction.

One of the new interns was on but supposed to only be learning to draw blood today. Grabbed her away from phlebotomy, cracked a smile when her eyes went wide when I introduced her to the patient as Dr X. Gave the patient some ketamine and Michael Jackson juice (I’ll be your trip guide - she said she was put into a video game based on her trip to Bali a few weeks ago). The newbie put the elbow in and was surprised af by the big crack as the elbow went into place. She did a little victory dance.

Good day.

So some family drama I feel like I need some UP feedback on

Extended family has a cottage in Michigan. Last summer brother brought his dog. My/parents dog is a maltipoo rescue dog. First fight between dogs happened when I wasn’t up there and had Maltipoo close to a broken leg.

I get up there and try desperately to keep the dogs apart for most of the vacation. But I take a solid minute to show a niece why the cars back door isn’t opening for some reason. In that one minute younger nieces and nephews open up enough doors where bros dog once again tries to kill my dog.

So sister in law is trying to say she won’t come to Michigan if her dog isn’t allowed

(look my small dog is the agressor, but it is small dog syndrome)

Am out of line to say fuck you, I won’t come if your dog is allowed

On one hand I think dog is more likely to be attacked if they call my bluff. But at the same time, I am furious she is saying her dog comes or she isnt coming when it very nearly led to disaster

Every company in the US complains about lack of available workers.

Even college educated Central Americans are willing to risk death to come work basically any job in the US.

If only there was some way to solve this damn labor shortage!

How about no dogs go?

Where is this place? Asking because my family also has what would be described as a cottage in Michigan. My dog is OK with my close family and their dog but there’s so much extended family that passes through to visit and it’s inevitable he doesn’t like one of them it’s a real headache bringing him there. He hasn’t been disinvited but I use it as an excuse to stay at a nearby hotel instead which is way better because I can have my own space and walk over to visit family and bring the dog or not bring the dog as I feel like it.
