Ah the infinitely long tradition of asking doctors for free medical advice
are all these places that collect tips with their square tablet legally obligated to give them to the employees if the employees are getting paid minimum wage?
I remember throwing my back out so bad that I couldn’t stand straight. Like my muscles wouldn’t physically allow it to happen.
Took a massage therapy session and twice daily stretches for a week before I could move like a normal person again.
What’s crazy is that I have no idea how it happened. It just did.
The one thing that really helped me from physio was this:
Stand as tall and straight as you can in front of a mirror. Slowly move your hips as far sideways as you can to the right, without your head or shoulders changing position in the mirror. Do the same left. Alternate back and forth for a few cycles.
Loosens me right up when my back goes off kilter. My back will spasm into an S curve (as seen from the front, not side) and this untwists the muscles and straightens me up.
Had this happen when I sneezed once. Couldn’t get out of bed for a day and was pretty screwed up for 1-2 weeks.
ah yes love to grab a bowl while unloading the dishwasher and suddenly be unable to move for 2 days
I am old enough to remember when all you people were on 2+2 bragging about your wild and crazy Vegas trips. Now you complain about back pain.
i do both
Simpsons did it!
I used to complain about back pain before meeting the next boss, shoulder impingement syndrome.
The only time I did the “full” music festival experience (i.e. with on-site camping) after 30yo was a painful experience. The weather was very hot and there were only a few hours in between the end of the concerts and the time in the morning when temperatures in tents would become unbearable.
As a result I was very tired, and doing a basic stretching movement I hurt my back and couldn’t stand without hurting horribly, so I had to go home early and miss the last day of concerts.
(Not a particularly interesting story but it does manage to combine two of this thread’s latest topics so I thought I’d share )
I’m watching Nausicaa and the pilot just complained about back pain.
that’s a no for me on all three mentioned remedies. resting should be active, not sitting on the couch. that’s the root cause of my back issues. too much sitting. i do recommend if you are lifting or playing basketball to you can take some rest days from that.
i don’t have much against ice, except that it doesn’t do anything for me. the heating pad on the other hand mostly feels nice, but i do think it relaxes the tissue as wel.
i have taken ibuprofen for acute pain, and it has also helped muscle tension go away for a number of injuries. but this advice i think correlates with being the only thing a person with back issues does. that likely isn’t working on the root cause.
Just in case you wanted to kill whatever faith you had in humanity, the comments on this Reddit post should do the trick

Were these taken in the same month?
What time of year was the original photo taken? Not saying climate change isn’t a huge problem but context matters.
Was the photograph taken on the exact same day/same time of year?
'cause you know glaciers melt and reform seasonally
I did it picking a t-shirt up off the floor. Loving my 40s!
Try being 53 and workout 4x/week. My default state is sore. Whenever anything hits the floor I have a serious debate about whether I need to pick it up, or just let roomba get it.
Neither of us are going to be rocking these moves anytime soon
He’s pretty good. Most of these guys are more loose-jointed contortionists than dancers, but sometimes they bring good musicality to it.
Thing that does not need to be fact-checked.
