2022 LC Thread—New Year, New Thread

LOL…D.C. just decriminalized psilocybin, so many of the semi-legal cannabis “gifters” have since added mushrooms and psilo-infused edibles to their inventories.

I heard they also seized $17.

“Suspects were apprehended wearing tie-dye clothing.”

This is easily my least favorite thing in the hospital. I always end up being the one controlling an arm while I’m bagging. Telling a dude getting chest compressions to try to remain calm is the most horrible thing ever. The absolute worst was a guy who woke up with an open chest. That gave me nightmares for a month.

I can’t find a source but Mrs. Krabappel and Principal Skinner were in the closet making babies and I saw one of the babies and the baby looked at me!

Plans are in the works to build a big tower near Madison Square Garden called PENN15

Unfortunate choice of name

Truly hate StubHub.

LOL apparently not considered: lowering BS fees.

Ticket resale giant StubHub in 2014 moved to an “all-in” pricing plan following years of consumer research showing that fans hate nothing more than to see their final ticket price jacked up with additional fees and service charges when they reach checkout. But with StubHub’s listed prices appearing more expensive, sales fell as fans gravitated toward sites that listed lower base prices and hid fees, the company said at the time. Less than two years later, after losing market share, StubHub returned to its system of adding fees at the last minute.

And LOL antitrust enforcement. How is this even possible in a functioning society:

Ticketmaster commands some 70% to 80% market share, according to industry estimates, and is owned by Live Nation Entertainment Inc., the world’s largest concert promoter.

Plans have been in the works for that for over a decade.

They’ve started demolition of Hotel Pennsylvania, so looks like it may actually happen

The PENN15 mightier than the Hotel Pennsylvania

I want to hate all the stupidtalls in midtown, but the truth is that I kinda hate all of midtown so I guess they can’t really do anything to make it worse.

Pretty entertaining read about an Ayn Rand / Ron Paul worshipping douche bag who really likes child porn and also leaked top secret CIA shit because he didn’t like his coworker and nobody cared.

I think the one they built next to Grand Central is pretty good (One Vanderbilt)

JPMorganChase is building a new world headquarters building on Park Avenue that’s going to be taller than the original World Trade Center. The massive girders are impressive.

Far West Midtown from the Port Authority to Chelsea was my favorite place in America as recently as 15 or so years ago, what has happened there is a true tragedy. Highline was worse then 9/11 imo.

Huh?..I remember that much of the area west of the Port Authority felt like a dump in the 70s.

After the problems in SF I’m skeptical of super-tall skyscrapers. Don’t know if other people have been following:
