More has come out about Apple’s AR googles. Apparently they will have a video screen on the front that will be able to show videos of your eyes and face, as necessary, for people looking at you.

Jokes hit you completely differently when written out in text form. They lose an incredible amount of context.
Not saying that’s the case here. But it is generally true.

Sure but what usually makes “edgy” comedy funny (and not simply offensive) is that it involves punching up at privileged groups or individuals. When you punch down at people in disadvantaged positions it just comes across as bullying. This Gervais routine really only works if you accept the premise that trans people enjoy some kind of social privilege now, which is highly dubious to say the least.
It’s just more proof that everyone who gets to create media (from columnists to comedians) now has pure twitterbrain. Gervais isn’t even considering real trans people in their day to day lives. It’s just twitter shit. So fucking depressing.

I think he’s twisted it in his head to think that he’s punching up at the masses who want to tell him what he can and can’t say. It’s all I can come up with because, like others said, there’s no joke there. I think the “joke” is that he’s saying things he knows will outrage people.
Fuck him, fuck Netflix. Only way to vote on this is sort of thing is with your wallet. If canceling Netflix isn’t an option at least don’t watch this special.

I think these comedians are treating trans people the same way they treat everyone. It’s their way of accepting them.
Lots of comedians develop unique perspectives as a way of coping with the very same feelings that critics claim they are lacking consideration for.
Larry David avoids this criticism since his work is so personal and we get to see him grow from his mistakes.
