I presume he is because he said “ink never works”. So it’s partly this, but to the extent it’s possible to make inkjet good, it costs a lot. It’s like “how come I can’t just get the same tech that is in a Ferrari in my family car”. It’s just a difficult problem to get little blobs of coloured ink onto a page in exactly the right spots. And the reason inkjet Ferraris don’t really exist for the home market is that there’s very little market for $5,000 home printers. People will just be like fuck that, I’ll go to Kinkos.
The giclee printers they use for art reproduction are actually the inkjet Ferraris. Here’s one for $900 (a steal!), but it only does 2.5 pages per minute:
Have had a HP Laserjet for 2.5 years and it works great.
I use one of these at work and don’t have ssues with it jamming, i only do black and white with it
What if the problem is the user, not the technology?
Brother B&W laser printer is my go-to. Very reliable. But yeah the interface is crap.
At that point (actually well below that point) you should be looking for a printer marketed to businesses and not homes.
Why is the iTunes software so horrible? The basic act of moving mp3s onto an iPod ought to be an easy click and drag, but no.
Hey now, that’s my Best Of fridge and you’d be kind to keep its name out yo mouth.
I want to print out my car insurance card thingies because for some reason they get lost in the mail no matter how many times I request them but I also don’t want to buy fresh ink cartridges for a stupid ink jet just for them to dry out before the next time I use it in 6 months. I have a digital copy but this is Utah and I don’t know if that’s even acceptable. Plus what if I get shot reaching for my phone? It’s a conundrum.
Office Max has public printers. Have to make a special trip I guess.
I think I’ll just chance not getting pulled over. That’s easiest.
My decades of printer hell went away as soon as I realized I didn’t need all the stupid bells and whistles and bought a basic B&W laser printer for a couple hundred bucks. It’s kind of embarrassing to think of how much money I’ve wasted at the intersection of “I might need color” and “I don’t want to spend too much up front”.
Just go the your local library, they got printers and scanners.
I don’t know why I didn’t think of that! I practically lived there before you know what. It would at least give me a destination for my walk this afternoon. Thanks.
I feel guilty I exaggerated a little. They only got lost twice. And maybe I accidentally threw them out the first time, idk. Second time I know they were on their way bc Dejoy emailed me a pic of the envelope but no real joy bc they didn’t get here.
fyi you can also send a print job to kinkos or ups store or whatever through their website and just pick it up.
Just all this chatter about home printing is raising my blood pressure.
My printer never jams but it uses an average of one cartridge of colored ink for every B&W print I make (because it drains or dries out over time or something). At least the one I have now still lets me print B&W w/o cyan ink. How kind of you Mr. Printer!
The other thing was trying to scan to my Mac. Couldn’t scan to email either. I finally gave up and figured out how to scan to google drive. The only thing that works.
that’s SOCIALISM
