at least not in the same way. it’s built into the fabric of our society and likely isn’t gonna change any time soon.
I know an Italian family that sued a city and police department, partially for this reason. The suit showed a pattern of unlawful targeting and malicious prosecution through various incidents. The suit also levied a count of violating the14th amendment rights of the family because the cops called the dad a “wop” in front of his family and also defaming them to other members of the community by saying they are part of the mafia. I believe they parties settled for 6 figures in like 2015 or 2016. Gotta love the south for it’s good old fashioned (anti-Italian) discrimination.

speaking of that I saw some weird post somewhere I’m forgetting claiming that those of northern european decent are the only “true” white people because they didn’t interbreed much with the caucasians. no idea whether that’s true or not. probably not.
People understand that Columbus Day was pushed in the US as a way to fight against anti-Italian bias, right? It’s popular on the left to use it as an opportunity to be anti-colonization, but maybe it would be better to use it as a time to highlight being pro-immigration.

i went to a christian school and they refused to honor MLK day because “he was an adulterer” but columbus day was one of the most celebrated other than the major holidays, gee wonder why
funny enough that’s how i started down the path I’m still on, but it wasn’t over righteous anger over MLK not being honored, it was just my 13 year old self being angry we didnt get a day off when everyone else did
Columbus was never on future US soil either. I Don’t think he even landed in Puerto Rico. Maybe one of the Virgin Islands.
I’ll be impressed that this shit is on track when $2T company Google Maps stops asking me if I want to get off the freeway then get back on at the same exit. I mean it’s 10 minutes slower, so yeah that is tempting.
