This is similar to the Green Bay FG decision last year which everyone hated but analytics people disagreed about. The amount of time left matters too, as a defensive stop would give them a chance to win the game outright in regulation.
And if there really is no chance in stopping KC, it doesnât matter anyways, even if they tie the game they give KC the ball with enough time to score the winner.

Every time I went through cowboys schedule this year from preseason to various points in the season I always thought the would end up 12-5.
