True. At the same time, though, Alex Smith became a decent starting QB - it just took time (he was also on shitty-ass Niners teams). Fortunately, he was given enough opportunity to eventually have a career.
right my comparison for fields coming out was a combination of 3 players, Smith, Russell Wilson, and Rex Grossman which heās been mostly that so far. Sigh.
Zach Wilson clearly shouldāve sat his rookie year but the Jets gonna Jets. (heās lost some confidence so heās actually playing a bit worse than he should, but thatās the Jets for ya)
Itās just different for each guy and teams donāt recognize who should be thrown into the fire and who shouldnāt.
It makes me think you really need a new GM/coach to draft a new QB as you really should have to take a 4-12 or 5-11 season with some shitty veteran starting in many circumstances. Too many idiotic coaches/GMs trying to save their careers (cough bears)
