Checked the PBP, confirmed fumble recovery. Maybe the guy thought they had the game on lock and that his team mate should just go down rather than risk another fumble? NIU had 2 TOs left, though, and CCar ended up punting back to them.
I just assumed the tackler had some sort of must-tackle-man-with-ball reflex operating and just ignored the jersey color.

Montana State vs North Dakota State is the FCS final
Montana State is the 8 seed, this is not the montana that beat washington, these guys finished the year 10-2 (losses to wyoming and montana) and got here by knocking off both teams in last year’s finals, including stomping on the road unbeaten #1 seed defending champs, and just beat the only team to beat North Dakota State all season in the semis (who I thought should’ve been the best team this season). Montana State surprisingly benched the starting QB all regular season who is now transferring so it’s a freshman dual threat who runs and throws a lot. Worked out.
I don’t have to tell you much about the other one as they’re always in the final except last year. Won a close game against James Madison in the semis and basically stomped about everyone else all season as usual and despite the 2 seed, actually have been the top team all along. No FBS team played them this year because they learned a lesson doing that.
Some quality game of pigskin played by montanas and dakotas this year that’s for sure.
