2020 Election Thread 2: 41 DAYS OF TREASON

For all the people shitting on law bros the last several months and now some insisting it will be fine without resistance really, it sure is a law bro party up in here lately.

I canā€™t tell if Alec Baldwin and Jim Carrey are just plain not funny or if the situation is so absurd that it is impossible to parody and fundamentally beyond comedic interpretation.

I havenā€™t seen any of their work related to this, but I can confirm from what I have seen that they are not funny.

I think Alec Baldwin does a pretty decent Trump. Jim Carrey is absolutely horrendous as Biden.

Itā€™s important to remember that things really have changed.

There is a different between laws and norms, and a lot of the previous law bro stuff has referred to norms.

Relying on norms to protect us from Trump was bad because he would ignore them. Relying on people to say no to Trump was bad because he was their boss. But come January 20, there will be a new boss.

We donā€™t need any heroes here. We just need people to follow protocols and rules, which they have largely done to date. Weā€™ve been pissed when people havenā€™t stood up to Trump. That is not what will be required here. They simply need to follow the rules, and it seems very likely that is what will happen.

I gotta admit I thought we were done with Rudy Giuliani for a while after the Four Seasons debacle.

If he can rise from the ashes after that I canā€™t wait to see what comes next.

Heā€™s also ignored laws with no repercussions.

Iā€™m not talking about personal accountability for Donald Trump. The issue is whether power will be transferred to the next president.

Donā€™t get me wrong, the problem of a lawless president is a huge flaw in our system, particularly given the 2/3 threshold required for removal alongside our hyper polarized politics. Itā€™s one of the many terrible aspects of our constitutional structure. But thatā€™s a distinct problem from the transfer of power.

The bottom line is that if Trump said ā€œIā€™m staying and you canā€™t make me leave, I order you!ā€, I think itā€™s very likely that he is ignored and made to leave.
