It’s really tough to sell progressive ideas to the THATS SOCIALISM crowd because the older half of the electorate spent their childhood under desks doing nuclear holocaust drills. The right wing propaganda has effectively painted most progressive ideas as marxist/communist. That’s part of what sunk Bernie in the primary.
I’m not sure how you fix that but convincing Boomers that socialism isn’t the enemy seems impossible to me.

I’m about to post an unpopular take here, but given that Biden is improving in the red parts of PA relative to Clinton but not necessarily Philadelphia, it seems to me like his strategy of concentrating on the swing middle voters and not necessarily going with a please the base strategy was… good?
Only works against a candidate like Trump. Some normal Republican who handles covid somewhat well crushes Biden in that demo.

Have a fair primary, whomever wins (and I think AOC wins in a landslide) energizes the base the most. Run with that person. Don’t try to be strategic in the primary. Look at Trump.
