I feel like EDM is another one of those genres that has a huge following but rarely produces mainstream hits, qualifying a lot of artists.

Technically Dream Theater had another hit that literally won a Grammy, but Pull Me Under is their only song that had cultural appeal outside of their genre.

Shoot thatā€™s no good because he definitely had a second hit with Do the Bartman.

Dream Theater is great, but still have to smh.

Yā€™all are aware that the one hit wonder is the band/artist, not the song? How is Dream Theater a one hit wonder? Then The Scorpions are also a one hit wonder because of winds of change.

No way. Scorpions have lots of great songs. Rock You Like A Hurricane etc.

Dream Theater put out a greatest hits album called Greatest Hit.

lol I saw the thumbnail and was like is that Kreayshawn??? thatā€™s a name I havenā€™t seen in a long time. I always loved the song as a joke, same feeling I get listening to Riff Raff, the stuff is bad but it makes me laugh.

as a former guitar nerd and metalhead I could never think of Dream Theater as anything but awesome and huge but I guess they probably have no pop culture relevance.

Los Del Rio ā€œMacarenaā€

Iā€™m with you on how awesome they are. Finally saw them live a few years ago. Iā€™ll always be Labrieā€™s biggest supporter/hater.

I see Macarena as kind of an archetype in the OHW field. Something that just has wide cultural recognition but is not from an otherwise notable artist that has any recognized output in the longer term. (Iā€™m sure the Macarena guys had solid careers in their more traditional music niche, but no one curr.)

2.37B views and definitely a major OHW. Like, think they both still do music, but him with mashups and kinda indie stuff, and her with her niche pop stuff. Still canā€™t escape it. Think I heard a remaster played in my last two fitness classes.
