World of Warcraft (classic wotlk)

Yea that’s my other trinket, and ausliele’s light channeler or whatever it’s called. Light channeler not a horrible trinket for the raw stats (the cd is meh) but it’s lvl 61 and my only non-70 piece.

The next major piece I’m getting is from exalted sha’tar, the healing mace, and I’ll be sitting pretty close to 1500 healing. The BIS gear is only like ~1800 so I feel I’m getting there slowly.

Another trinket option that the main healer is going with is the epic alchemy’s stone with +15 to all stats and consumables give you 40% more. At 2-3 mana pots a fight, that’s an effective 4k+ mana extra. Pretty decent but it’s extremely expensive and I’m dubious that it’s worth the money for me, since I have very little mana issues. I didn’t even go OOM in the second boss of heroic blood furnace - which is a total mana check. The priest goes oom very fast in fights so for him it’s good I guess. That’s also an option.

Until now I was pretty sure it’s in the game at sha’tar revered but maybe he’s mistaken. I know he’s farming for it right now but i actually haven’t looked so I don’t know.

I’d also have to re-level alchemy (not very expensive anyway) on this guy and ditch it on my hunter (was gonna pick up engineering anyway) so I’m not super inclined to do that but if I am gonna do that I should do it now because my hunter has discovered zero flask recipes. Gotta think about it. If it doesn’t come out til sunwell though it’s moot. I’ll look tonight.

I was wanting the trinket you mentioned + scarab. Lower city prayerbook is very good but I don’t think it makes the cut for me. Like I said I just seem to have zero mana issues. However, druid has definite weaknesses I’m feeling - particularly in heroics where the tank can get two shot by some trash. I feel helpless in those spots. For a priest it’s fine because they have greater heal. Maybe I need to respec into more healing touch talents and use that ability more - I’m out of ideas otherwise. Regrowth spam can’t really keep a tank up in some fights (like last boss of BM or first boss of mana tombs)

Yea I’m pretty sure it’s in the game. I could see that with greater heal - at a 3.5 second cast I’m not sure my healing touch can get the job done but I’ll try it out next time, a little afraid though. We had this resto druid with pvp spec (no tree) in a heroic I ran on my hunter and he really opened my eyes to the possibilities. Used cyclone a lot to pin down mobs that got loose or broke cc, so I’ve been incorporating that into my game, and entangling roots in emergencies as well. CC is an absolute must in heroics and honestly I think it’s the one spot in the game where your dps classes must be absolutely on their game and coordinating well together. I stress out so bad in heroics on my hunter, whereas healer is not so bad if the tank’s gear is good and he can manage threat.

I was honestly thinking of going duo healer or duo tank in some of these, like heroic shattered halls (which tbh is the toughest shit I’ve ever seen - we couldn’t get past the first room). Then 2 CC classes that can pump, and the missing dps shouldn’t matter maybe - just theorycrafting though. It’s definitely interesting and very challenging and I like running them a lot. Some are trivial, like I did a run last night in heroic ramps and we didn’t even CC and pulled multiple packs a few times without wiping. Mana tombs trash is extremely easy as well - it’s mostly casters, which are a joke in heroics. Heroic steamvaults is easier than UB or SP, weirdly. But when you get multiple big melee dudes that can’t be cc’d or stunned or god forbid, one that resists a hunter trap - oof. Brutal. That’s when I try to save the day with cyclone.

@lovemuffin @grue do you guys run 3 healers in your kara? We did that this weekend and 1 shot almost everything. The raid leader doesn’t like it, but my argument is that the place seems designed for 3, maybe even 4 healers. The loot table is so ridiculously tilted towards healing stuff, it seems like that was the intention. The ”sweaty” thing would be to have just 2 healers - of course - I just don’t think we’re there yet. And if we can make it easy on ourselves, why not just do that? Our dps absolutely pumps so it’s not like losing one will kill us. I’ve been very vocal about triple healer and a few of the dps have been insisting on it too, especially after we finally downed netherspite. I’m not sure if the difference that night was by having me on the offhealer or having that third flex spot (third guy was mostly dpsing) but I do know we wouldn’t have killed netherspite without his ~150k healing. Me and the priest both went oom at the end of that fight, even when abusing the green beams.

There’s talk that I may raid lead our second kara group, so that’ll be interesting and maybe fun. I’m trying to learn everything I can about all the other classes and their specs so I can speak confidently about what everyone should be doing.

Yea true, the priest told me last night that he felt he was really fighting me for heals in several fights, so two is probably fine. I’m much more geared this week as well. Netherspite does such a ridonculous amount of raid damage though I honestly cannot see how it’s possible without 3.

Shadow priest offhealer/dps would probably be great to have in netherspite and as the flex spot, I might try to recruit one.

I forgot about that book. I will try that this week. The healing wasn’t bad, it was just the mana that was a problem because that fight was so long. He phased us 4 times and got within a minute of his enrage timer. Maybe it was the missing dps.

Definitely pally would suck in that fight, holy crap. For me it’s fairly easy, one stack lifebloom will cancel his aoe completely on a single character. So that was no problem. The problem was doing that and also keeping the tanks up. One of our paladin tanks gets chunked pretty damn hard, that’s where most of our mana went I think. I told the priest to try to keep tanks up while I focused on raid healing but I had to throw a several emergency heals on the tank even though I was keeping max hots on him at all times.

My sunday kara was holy priest holy paladin and me as shadow wearing a few healing pieces and hitting people with renew on harder stuff and keeping vampiric embrace up. We did OK not as good as week before, wiped on a few things include shade and prince a couple. I didn’t feel like my healing/staying out of shadowform was really that useful and I started staying in it towards the end.

I was useful in netherspite because for some reason we couldn’t run far enough away during that phase and had to heal through it and of course I can give back some mana during dps. We got him after like 5 attempts while we were learning/remembering the fight. All 6 of our dps was ranged of course though but that’s probably every guild now.

Pretty sure I got the BM trinket on my first BM yeah. Honestly doesn’t feel very good to me but I don’t main heal much. Proc rate is low and 6 seconds of buff isn’t much at all.

Yea the bis is the essence of the martyr/lower city prayerbook but I really just wanna try this thing, especially given how many times I’ve ran BM now. One nice thing though is I got the BIS bracers from exalted KoT which I doubt I would’ve had the patience to do if I also wasn’t trying to get this damn trinket.

Lots of my bis is from tailoring so I have a lot of gold farming in my future :/ no idea how to make money right now other than farming all quests on each toon.

That’s crazy you healed through his phase shift - that’s auto wipe for us. It’s about positioning. A few times the tank was too close to the window so we had to run to the door. That fight is a real brain check. In 1 phase I couldnt find the green portal and it was my turn to take it and i just accidentally was standing directly in front of it - lol. Otherwise probably woulda wiped.

Yeah farm primals is about it but would probably really suck on a pvp server with any faction balance. I bought about 200 signet rings for scryer and they were pretty cheap so selling those things isn’t anywhere good as primals. I need like 1000g to be able to craft each shadoweave piece, fun.

I downloaded the classic wow logs app and tried to use the website but I cannot get it to find my characters. I did make a blizz forum account like they stated in the instructions. Any ideas?

Did you enable Advanced Combat Logging? Options → System → Network → :heavy_check_mark: Advanced Combat Logging

Did you type /combatlog in the chat to tell the system to start recording logs to the text file? IIRC, this has to be done once per session but some addons like DBM can auto enable this when you enter a raid instance

Did you upload this text file (or live log) ?

How do I upload it? I did not know to type combatlog in the chat.

If you have a file already, you open up the Warcraft Logs Uploader app then it should be a menu with the expansion there. Just click TBC, Upload a Log, then select the specific file you’d like to upload. I think it defaults to something close to the correct directory, but fwiw mine is C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\_classic_\Logs. It will ask you fill out some info like public/private, etc. Just click through those and Go! to upload. It should tell you it succeeded (or failed), and provide a link to your report.

If you’re going to live log, it’s just a difference of clicking Live Log, pointing it to the correct directory, filling out the same metadata, and typing /combatlog in game to make sure it starts logging.

Some of the guides out there kinda suck, specifically the Warcraft Logs one, but this video captured the whole process of live logging pretty well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8O_KqjSIj7E

Where on the classic.warcraftlogs.com site do I upload the log?

You do it through the app. I have only used Warcraft Logs Uploader, not the Companion beta app.

Dont get into wow logs, it’s cancer and pure epeen shit, just a way of dick measuring for people who aren’t actually good (not directed at you). There’s way more to being good at the game than what percentile you’re in for a particular fight.

I’m more trying to find my leaks than measure dicks tbh.

It sounds like your experience is different than mine. I can understand why someone might think that it’s just epeen shit, since a lot of people use it in a selfish and vain way. However, I think there is a ton valuable info that can be gleaned from reviewing logs. You can use Details or some addon in game to give it a surface look, but those seem more like epeen shit to me since it’s tough to do any quality analysis. You can tell who did the most healing, dmg, dispells, etc. but it doesn’t do a great job of the time component like Warcraft Logs. It helped immensely in Naxx with strategy and identifying when people either didn’t know what to do or were just doing it incorrectly. And while “comparison is the thief of joy”, comparing your team’s boss fights against sweaty guild strategies can also provide a lot of insight. Even just simple shit like calculating simple shit like debuff uptime, it is so helpful at identifying leaks in my game. For example, I suck at keeping max rank Expose Armor on bosses currently because combat dagger combo point generation isn’t great. But if it weren’t for logs, I would have no concrete number to try and improve upon.

It is just a tool. An extremely informative and helpful tool, but still just a tool and tools can be misused.

The real reason I wanted to get it set up is to see who in our regular group was lagging so we could hopefully get that fixed. Well it was pretty obvious who it was as we had 2 mages and one did almost double the dps as the other. The non-dps dps also never got their mana down below 25%.

Now when I talked to them about it after a shitshow of a Maraudon run last night where I died 5 times tanking and we didn’t even finish they got angry and basically told me I was an asshole for singling them out. I tried to do it as nicely as possible but I can also see how that would be hurtful.

So i both wish i hadn’t looked at the logs and also am still clueless on how to fix the issue.
