Twitter just delicious butthurt about the refereeing. Like lol, they had two penalties in the game (both deserved but still)
Would be nuts to see a team lose to fucking Saudi Arabia and then win the World Cup in the same tournament
The first french goal was an obvious foul on the other end right before. Maybe VAR thought it wasn’t right away.
not exactly the same but Spain lost to Switzerland in their first game in 2010
World cup experts, do teams often/ever win all 7 games in the tournament? I suppose I mean win in 90 mins.
not an expert but i would say almost never, its very rare for a team to even get 9 points from the group stage they will usually rest their good players in the third game
He’s a massive donkey.
Definitely isn’t. Sure it’s an upset but Switzerland was ranked in 24th by FIFA in 2010. Saudi Arabia was ranked 51st in 2022.
So does that second penalty get given if Hernandez is actually looking up in the air for the ball? Or does that not matter and the contact is enough to award the penalty?
Brazil did it in 2002 (including not going to extra time in any knockout games) by the looks of it but yeah no teams since then that won the tournament even won all 3 group games
Brazil in 2002 is the last to do it
Fuck seconds my pony
Sounds right.
My French sucks now though. I got up to C1 in 2017, but have barely spoken it since and lost a lot of it.
Dang, you can lose that much after getting to C1? That sucks :(
Ref didnf want to give the 2nd tho

I listen to the occasional Lyon/France match in French and can still understand ok, but trying to talk can be a disaster. Part of it is that I’ve since learned Spanish to a fluent level and my brain can’t really distinguish well between foreign languages. So when I try to form sentences in French, a lot of Spanish words pop into my mind.
If I wanted to get most of it back, I think it would only take 3-4 weeks of consistent study, but I’d probably have to move back to France to motivate me to do that. Lately I’ve been adding bits and pieces of other languages.
Getting fluent in Spanish that quick is pretty damn impressive. I guess it depends on how we’re defining fluent. For me, personally, I’m fluent in another language if I can do just about everything just as well in the other language as I can in English. I imagine that’s not the universally accepted definition, though.
