I got a bit lucky because I recently changed my opener from a word that is same as this one except for the first letter. Not even sure why I switched. I think they’re both very solid for the strategy we’re apparently using.
I’ve never heard of that being a standard hard mode opener.
Pretty sure I’ve talked about it as a means of burning some consonants of intermediate frequency so as to avoid getting burned in a situation where you have 4 greens locked in and more possibilities than guesses left. Hitting 5 bricks isn’t bad, as you just revert to a more standard opener. It also has a bunch of nice follow ups when you hit a single letter: snare, teary, smear, parse, and share.

This would be entirely more tolerable if it automatically filled out words that have a green square for each letter position.
Oh ffs. It’s one of those. This one’s probably going to break some streaks. I got lucky that I not only binked my second guess hard, but also that my first guess had 3 letters that could have fit as the first letter.

Fuck you, and also I’m turbo proud of how I played this. I identified what was likely happening by the second guess, counted out how many words fit the template with my removed letters - it was six - then on purpose blew guesses #3 and #4 so I could try two letters a pop. Of course I’m unlucky so it’s the literal last one, but the streak survives because I had no chance of losing with this strat.
I’ll take it.
