EDIT: Disregard below. I just realized you were talking about Dordles. I’ll just leave it here anyway if someone hasn’t got the memo on Wordles.
Some people are on the original Wordle word list. After NYT purchased it they got rid of some words that they thought were offensive (e.g. “slave”), obscure*, or spelled the British way (‘fibre’).
So if you just go to the Wordle site, you get the NYT list which is the revised list. If you downloaded the original page, you get the original list.
*for example a couple of days ago the original word was AGORA, which I guess NYT felt was too obscure so they changed it to AROMA.
Yeah I had a nice weird pattern, I’m like oh first guess didn’t help me much so lemme narrow it down with my usual secondary, huh nothing. Surely my emergency backup word will have a bunch then…or not. Then so much of the alphabet was gone I managed to bink my 4th guess.
53 for me, but also had a ton of top 100 before getting it. I feel like I’m getting a better handle on how to narrow down the words to guess, but I also think I’m just luckboxing my way to the answer.
I try to start with broad concepts like person, world, time, idea and see if anything hits relative to the others. I’m sure there’s a better strategy but I’d need to analyze the matrix to have any insight. I’ll try to take a look at it when I return from traveling in a few days.
I solved Semantle #21 in 16 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 12.62. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #3. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 21.88. https://semantle.novalis.org/
I swear to God, @Lawnmower_Man if you post that you got it in 15 I’m applying for modship and permabanning your ass
