The slopestyle course is a masterpiece. A lot of the venues look incredible. Maybe this totalitarianism isn’t so bad …

Is that a cooling tower for a nuclear power plant next to the big air jump?

The older I get the more gymnastics and figure skating give me anxiety.

interesting how ‘the twisties’ got to Simone Biles - the Goat gymnast. this figure skater is apparently a once in a lifetime talent, too

the psychology of all that would be cool to know

The 15 year old winner skated to Ravel’s “Bolero”.

Never understand why the USA arent better in Biathlon when they have so many weapon enthusiasts. There should be a large pool of skilled marksmen/-women.

All the gun enthusiasts I’ve seen look like they’d have a heart attack just thinking about skiing that far.

Caught her long-program skate last night and it was one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen.

Thank god for CBC. I’m in Europe and can barely watch anything live, but am able to catch up on most all events with replays by VPNing to Canada.

Lots of great events, but so far short-track speed skating seems like the GOAT. Just a lot more drama when you’re racing head to head vs. racing a time.

Sneaky of NBC to not mention that Nathan Chen’s start time in 12:11 am Eastern.

To the untrained eye, this big air event basically appears to be “who can spin around the most times in the air.” Vs half pipe or slopestyle-type events where there seems to be a variety of tricks.

Unless they’re going to do something other than spin around 3-4 times in the next couple runs.

Why do they carry ski poles in this event?

Pulling for my old world countrymen in curling but I have to mute it because every time mi paisana yells at her partner in Italian I get PTSD flashbacks of my nona

Hot take: Short track is one of my least-favorite events. It should be exciting, but the judging makes the NFL catch rule look clear and boxing look legit.

But my favorites are biathlon and skeleton, so I know I’m not the norm.

Probably not that hot a take tbh. I’m watching 95% of the time on replay, so the judging pauses are less annoying, but see how they could be an issue. I think it should only be a factor for really blatant takeouts, but it seems like basically everything is up for review, and it’s stupid when an aggro but only midly unsafe pass early in the race ends up DQing someone.
