Winter cricket and bridge thread - Held over by popular demand

That’s what I thought when I saw the Stones in '89.

The Stones haven’t made a good album since Beggars Banquet.

I count 6 or 7 good albums post Beggars Banquet, including a couple of all time great albums.

Let’s go. Which ones do you like??? I love a bunch of Stones songs, but they’re pretty much all from Beggars Banquet OR I love the songs but not the albums.

Let It Bleed (all timer)
Sticky Fingers (all timer)
Exile On Main Street (one of my favorites)
It’s Only Rock 'n Roll
Some Girls (I consider this an all timer but some girls might argue)
Emotional Rescue

You got me on Exile on Main Street :fire: :fire: :fire:

I know it’s sacrilege, but man, most songs from the other albums make me cringe. Don’t put me on ignore plz ty.

Wild Horses is A++++

What do you love about the Stones and those albums?

You’re really gonna put me on ignore after this. My favorite cover of Angie incoming…

I don’t mean to be rude, but they’re all classic Stones so the question seems a little silly. Many of those albums will be on a lot of folks greatest rock albums of all time list.

I guess you can say Some Girls and Emotional Rescue are not classic Stones, but I love how they somehow mixed in the funky disco vibe while maintaining their own classic sound.

No offense taken. I was mostly just having a good rustle with you and of course recognize the Stones are terrific regardless of my taste.

I’m interesting in what you like so much about them just to get to know you better and appreciate what makes the music so good for you.

My single favorite part of the Stones sound is the really funky rhythm guitar work, often in open g tuning which gives it a unique sound that you just know is the Stones.

But they’re not my all time favorite band or anything. Probably top 5 though.

TY. Suggestions for songs from the albums you mentioned? I like getting outside of my head and tasting music from someone else’s perspective, which may be why I am perpetually running Walruses.

Monkey Man is a very underrated Stones song imo

Please tell me someone responded to the message you posted with another “OK, Boomer”. It’s just too perfect.

Beast of Burden
Gimme Shelter
Can’t You Hear Me Knocking
Moonlight Mile
Waiting On A Friend (Off the Tattoo You album)
Bitch
Tumbling Dice
Sweet Virginia
Aint Too Proud Too Beg
Dance Little Sister

I wanted to so bad, but I’ve already been warned about 5 times on that site recently. They don’t have much of a sense of humor.

Saw Stones at SARStock… they were… err… real bad. Also saw Timberlake drenched in piss .

Ty! I am familiar with the songs. I will make a playlist of those in particular and pay attention to what you said you like about their style :+1:
