Winter cricket and bridge thread - Held over by popular demand

I hope we’re not suggesting that only expensive or Michelin restaurants can be good. I’ve eaten at tons of reasonably priced places that serve excellent food.

Everybody goes everywhere and they take their food with them. The more diverse a population, the more likely you are to run into quality cuisine from all over.

The Vietnamese community in the CR is the largest per capita in Europe. Given the crap Czech cuisine, people have taken to Vietnamese food in a big way. Obviously, South Asian cuisine is gonna be huge in the UK. As a matter of fact, chicken tikka masala is now the most popular dish in the country.

Given the diverse population of America, it’s unsurprising to find a little bit of everything there. You just have to be willing to pay for the more niche cuisines.

It shouldn’t be that way. It isn’t that way in most of Europe or Asia. In the US, in my experience, more often than any other place I’ve visited, reasonably priced places do not serve excellent food.

Sweet tea is awful. Sweetened tea is delicious. Foreigners beware!

When I was younger I cared about how many stars a tire company gave to a restaurant but I’ve grown up and put away childish things. I’d rather get drunk gamjatang or have breakfast pho or check out 2am dimsum than eat me+some hottie sick with French food and pass out.

Same with Chicago.

Masala used to be the restaurant favourite but I’d think that’s changed now… In towns/City’s it’s the new meat meets bread places that are very buzy nowadays and the Curry houses not so much… I’d like to see a updated survey :joy:

Home foods though are still around the same…

  1. Spaghetti Bolognese
  2. Pizza
  3. Roast chicken
  4. Fish fingers
  5. Fish and chips
  6. Sunday roast
  7. Pasta and sauces
  8. Jacket potato
  9. Beans on toast
  10. Scrambled egg
  11. Cheese toastie
  12. Lasagne
  13. Pasta bake
  14. Shepherd’s Pie
  15. Meatballs
  16. Cottage pie
  17. Homemade curry
  18. Omelette
  19. Roast beef
  20. Stir fry

If anyone’s ever in St Andrews for the Golf, check out this place and enjoy…

As I take folks to restaurants all day every day the most popular destinations are chinese and there Fav dish is always A brest of Chicken Curry. I’d say its always been Britain’s favourite dish.

I got a grilled cheese that was coated in flamin’ hot cheetos last time I was in Vegas, added nothing to the sandwich and made it harder to eat, would not recommend.

Fwiw this is the normal abbreviation here in France. Germany is ‘Meckes’, apparently.

Marketing executives are very smart

It’s a joke about the last McDonalds burger in Iceland still not having rotted yet on livestream. But yeah it’s hardcore marketing FPS.

All abbreviation decisions should be turned over to the Aussies. It’s like a national pastime down there.

Turn anything over to the Aussies? Rack off, mate.

Amazing video.

No sound though

Lol. I am going to get my citizenship revoked but I think it’s really bad food and coffee. :joy:

I haven’t been in years.

It is amazing how many there are. Just counting 5 minute drive from my house here are 7!

Do you speak Japanese?

My favorite and only bit of Canadian trivia is that it’s named “Tim Hortons” and not “Tim Horton’s” because of Quebec’s signage laws.

My friend from Long Island add’s an 's to every bar - even if there isn’t one. So Tosca becomes Tawwscahh’s and Edinburgh Castle becomes Edinburgh’s Castle.

That’s just wrong, man.
