Winter 2021 LC Thread—I Want Sous Vide

I just assume that’s true for all of us tbh

I guess I’m the only one who checks almost every factual claim I make instead of relying on memory.

Much easier to just not make any factual or substantive claims

Edit: to make this a properly low-content post I’ll put it in meme form

I always assumed that NotBruceZ built prototype guillotines before posting the blueprints.

You also need an initial at the beginning for full effect:

J. Bryce Huntington III

If Bryce moved to Bryce Canyon City in Utah, he could call himself Bryce Canyon City Bryce. Perhaps adding …of the Bryce Canyon City Bryces for a posh effect.

Does anyone remember the story of the dad of one of the Newtown kids who killed himself after years of harassment from “truthers”? I’m looking for a newspaper article or name or anything like that.

If this happened to a loved one I would inflict immense pain on Alex Jones.

I have a lot of ideas for fates worse than death.

The Roots looks at all the senators who said something about the 1619 project and looked at the likely textbooks they used in high school and they’re pretty bad, but quoting this for the lol

Perhaps the only thing more racist than this textbook is the name “Tom Cotton,” which sounds like the person you have to fight when you defeat all the other slave masters.

Thanks. I’m writing something about the types of events that might make a life not worth living. This one came to mind :(

edit: this article doesn’t mention the harassment from truthers. Maybe I’m remembering it wrong.

I’ve been to Vegas twice and hope to never see it again. I’m not capable of ignoring the crush of human sadness that touches almost everything in the city.

Not for the faint of heart, but there’s some more here:

In the eyes of the internet Sandy Hook has become synonymous with the most macabre and vicious case study in conspiracy theory. From the day after the shooting the inhuman suggestions that the murders had been “staged” by the American “deep state” or “the anti-gun lobby”, that the grieving parents were “crisis actors”, and that their children had not been murdered at all, has been fuelled and spread across social media.

It is impossible to comprehend the effect that those accusations might have on families like Richman’s. Another Newtown father, Lenny Pozner, whose six-year-old son Noah was killed alongside Avielle, has made it his mission to try to clear the internet of the conspiracies. As a result he had been hounded for years with death threats that have forced him to move house eight times for his own safety.

The Sandy Hook “alternative narratives” were a blueprint for the “fake news” tactics designed to loosen our hold on observable reality. Chief among the platforms amplifying them was Alex Jones’s Infowars. Though he now tries to distance himself from the allegations, Jones repeatedly insisted to his millions of followers that Sandy Hook was “fake … you’ve got parents acting … it’s just the fakest thing since the three-dollar bill”.

Lol, leave it to Zikzak to fixate on the “crush of human sadness that touches almost everything in the city” and completely ignore the free bloody marys with video poker play.

It’s a place of extremes.

I don’t like Vegas, but I do like the WSOP. Looking forward to going there when it’s not obscenely hot this year.
