The Munger dorm has panels with lighting that mimics sunlight. As someone who never opens his windows, I don’t see the psychological need to have windows in rooms.
The design appeals to me as an efficient use of space. It just makes sense to me. My only problem at that age would be not having seven people I’d want to share such a unit with.
Didn’t the Lincoln Project slapdicks get cancelled? Do we still have to deal with them and their bullshittery?
Edit: in case anyone is wondering why the Lincoln Party is trending, apparently they faked a Klan rally to embarrass the Republican candidate in the Virginia race and got caught.
Most of these people are either full of shit or paid actors. There are literal websites where you can hire struggling actors to astroturf these meetings.
I guess this is why I’m hearing that aurora borealis may be visible in the north of the Czech Republic tonight
I’ve never seen any defense other than vague “encourage charity” BS, and it’s hard to imagine what it would look like. An interesting consideration for retirement planning is that tax-exempt accounts are often not that much better (if at all) than taxable accounts (at least for stock that don’t pay a lot of dividends), because there are so many tricks for holders of stock. In addition to basic capital gains deferral, you can do loss harvesting for some ordinary deductions every year, and if you regularly give to charity, you can donate shares instead to zero out some of your gain. And then Vanguard and ETFs use heartbeat transactions to effectively zero out capital gains from portfolio rebalancings as well.
