Immigration was/is my biggest concern with Yang too.
All I will say is putting humanity first is his whole platform and I trust him to make the right decisions even if he doesn’t have it all figured out now.
He is a good human. He makes me want to be a better human. These next few months are going to be interesting.

He wants to give all those exploited workers a rich to poor transfer of cash which in turn would give them more power to organize.
If Walton family lost the multimillions if federal subsidies their company almost certainly receives, then I’d be pretty happy to pay out the $12k x however many Walton family members there are.
They would pay more than 12K a year in new taxes. You understand that right?

I think you’re making more out of “even worse” than was intended. I don’t think gregorio has a problem with the $12/yr to the Waltons. The point was about how means testing which fails the non-citizens is bad. Does Yang want to give ALL those exploited workers and transfer or just the American citizens?
There are actually two 3rd rails in American politics. Taking entitlements away from olds and giving entitlements to immigrants.

The problem is not giving the Waltons $12k but how the ‘benefits’ they would be turning down would certainly be interpreted. Don’t get me wrong I’m pro UBI and would much rather give 1% of people $12k they don’t deserve than not give 65% an option that may be better for them. That said I’d expect a lot of problematic issues with it.
And that’s a fair critique. His plan isn’t perfect. As to why it doesn’t cover non-citizens even though they will be participating in the VAT economy, I don’t know. I’m not sure if he has ever gone into more detail. If he continues to pick up more voters I’m sure things like that will be questioned.
I’m still sick of people framing it as giving money to rich people. Ironically most of the people framing it that way also hate on Pete for wanting to means test college.

Literally he was in the administration when Republicans would extract tons of concessions in the legislation, get those concessions, then turn around and vote against it and go on tv saying it’s the worst thing to ever happen to America.
If we’re lucky dems might take the senate and they MIGHT try to pass 1.5 trillion/10yrs of something good the way mitch did with the tax cuts. Prob joe will waste his first 2 years trying to get Republicans on board to cure cancer, then the Republicans win midterms by pointing out that joe didn’t get anything done
