I know it means less coming from me, but every time AOC or rose twitter blue checks attack Pete, all we talk about on here and on twitter (and sometimes it spills to MSM) is, that’s right, you guessed it: Pete. Look how much energy you guys put into disparaging him on here. Now imagine if you put half that amount into actually selling your candidates. I like reading it here, because it allows me to figure out the line between which type of voter might listen, and which type is unreachable.
I’ll give you some numbers: Pre-AOC tweet, Pete’s ad (at least on twitter) had been viewed ~40k times. As of now, it’s been viewed 4.2 million times. Now, you can be optimistic and think that all 4 million of those views are people who agree with AOC…but that’s not realistic. If she’d just ignored it, no one outside of Iowa would have seen that ad. Now the world, and a whole lot of people that don’t agree with AOC (yes, even democrats), has seen it.
If I was sneaky, I wouldn’t tell you any of that, because strategy, but really, I’d love to see more of you getting out there and supporting the person you want to win. More political action from anyone that’s a dem is a good thing, IMHO.
Posting here doesn’t take any effort and is actually fun for most of us I would imagine.
And look I will be fine voting for Pete as the nom should he win. Most of the hate he gets is because he is such a clear example of some of the problems on our side. Mostly being too scared to hurt the fee fees of the donor class to actually do anything.
And I don’t think more Americans agree with AOC than with Pete, but then Americans do things like elect Donald Trump and George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan and all sorts of stuff that shows that Americans agreeing with something doesn’t mean it’s that great. I’ll be relatively happy, or not too unhappy anyway, if Pete is the nominee because, on average, Democrats are terrible and they’re awfully likely to nominate Biden.
I’m not planning to. I’m just sick of the hyperbole and false equivalence. Btw, I got a kick the other night aimlessly checking Unstuck at like 3:00am and seeing you just hearted seven of my posts from like a month ago lol. Idk how you take it all in. I can barely keep up checking in daily.
I think it’s pretty clear at this point Biden would be better than GOPete.
Biden is terrible and has dementia, but I do think he believes what he says. GOPete will do whatever the person/corporation who gives him the most money says to do.
I was planning to reply to this even before ATC’s post but now I really have to stress that the bold just isn’t true. I don’t even mind it as a talking point as it gets people thinking optimistically and moving left and becoming averse to settling, but, if it’s just us here talking, not doing voter outreach and what not, the unfortunate reality is it just isn’t true. It’s painful to admit and it makes me sad literally every day just thinking about it.
Here are the top marginal tax rates since the Carter administration, which I’m guessing is around the mean birthday of forum posters:
And that’s just one basic thing.
Bernie and, by extension, me and you and whomever else held her feet to the fire and forced her left and wouldn’t have stopped post-election.
Everybody had a good laugh about checking her website but she did have a website and I did check it and even if 2/3 of the actual, concrete plans were bullshit it still would’ve noticeably moved the needle as far as improving the lives and material conditions of ordinary people.
I agree with this last sentence. If you’re young, healthy, and have good health insurance, you’re not likely to care about doctor/hospital fees and drug prices. Those are other people’s problems, right?
But I don’t believe the culprits are the American voters who are unaware just how much they’ve been getting fleeced and having their money “stolen” by big corporations enabled by the politicians who are supposed to represent them. But that’s changing. Younger people are becoming more aware of what’s really going on. We’re leaving school and starting out life with debt that equals a small mortgage. Then we’re looking to spend between 3-5 years on a house. This on top of inflation where the cost of living continues to rise. Add to this, the knowledge that this planet won’t be able to sustain human life during our lifetimes if we don’t get serious about clean energy very soon! All this adds to some very pissed off young people who very much resent boomers and this dumpster fire they left us to deal with and put out. It’s not the voter’s fault. It’s sneaky politicians who’ve been lining their pockets for decades while no one noticed. Well, we notice now and we’re going to change the whole fucking system
Hey, if Pete’s views reach more people because of an AOC tweet, I’ve got no problem with it. People should be exposed to as many candidate’s views as possible before casting their vote. If more like Pete, then so be it. What I don’t like is when MSM blatantly tries to supress all the non establishment candidates like Yang, or make stupid smears against Gabbard, and still try to misrepresent Sanders’ proposals as unrealistic and un-American
