Who will run in 2020?

At least make your dumb demand actually tweetable, Tulsi, Jesus.

I’ll prepare the text for Hillary Clinton’s response:

Here is my statement on Tulsi Gabbard’s request: Fuck off

Looking that tweet up I finally bothered to look up what the “Streisand Effect” is. Cool story.

Speaking of third party candidates, given what happened in Kentucky, is there someone who can run as a Libertarian and peel off votes from Trump?

McMullin and Johnson won like 4% of the vote in 2016. That’s twice as much support as the libertarian in the governor’s election pulled. Trump won by 30 points.

Bloomberg should run as a 3rd party to peel votes from Trump, but of course, he’d rather Trump win than Bernie or Liz.

The McMullin guy should do it. It could easily make the difference in some swing states - and I think he actually doesn’t like Trump.

Keed, I don’t think he’s suggesting that Trump won’t win KY.

I generally assume that the ones who wouldn’t sit out in the absence of a Libertarian are more likely to vote Republican than Democratic, so it is a good idea to have someone soak up their votes.

I’m willing to believe that a Bloomberg third party run hurts the Democrats more than Trump.

Tulsi got a 6% poll in NH. Going on fox all the time and getting into a fight with Hillary works I guess. She’s one poll from december and she’ll get there on donors too. Yang probably will get there as he’s now at 2/4.

December debate isn’t gonna whittle anyone other than Booker.

edit–she only gets 1% among dems of course but you can vote in a dem primary in NH and not be a dem so here we are

edited to add: the reason I get so upset at this is because it makes my job as a grassroots organizer so much harder. the more candidates there are, the less people tune into the race, they less they are enthused to volunteer, etc. Not just for Pete, for ANY of the candidates who have been out working hard for months.

I could’ve bet everyone yes at peanuts odds but nope. Why would that guy run he has no chance of winning I thought but here we are with everyone throwing their name into this circus.

Grifting. It’s always grifting. Deval currently works for Bain Capital. It’s not super surprising he’ll hop in, hopefully pull support from Warren, and write a book for a couple hundred thousand.

I mean, this is actually 100% true minus the sarcasm.

haven’t you noticed? If you can afford to donate the max (at once or in aggregate), you’re no longer allowed in the democrat clubhouse. You must take a vow of poverty and wear sackcloth and ashes, flogging yourself if you’re ever tempted to give more than $3 at a time to any candidate.

Because there’s no way anyone who can afford more than that is anything but a republican.

hyperbolic, yes, but this idea that upper middle class people (like the ones in that quote) absolutely cannot be democrats is utterly ridiculous to me.

I’m done with this argument. And no one has ever answered if it’s ok if Bernie takes $2800 checks.

Your post was answered above and it has been many times before when this argument is made. Yes, single max donations are okay. What is NOT okay, is what Liz and Bernie have sworn off, but Pete continues to do in high volume - Private Fundraisers.

An early November poll from The Economist/YouGov found that 24 percent of Democratic primary voters who voted for Trump in 2016 backed Gabbard.

Digging a little deeper into that poll, I found that this works out to be about half of her total support. So half the people voting for Tulsi in the Democratic primary voted for Donald Trump in the 2016 general. Amazing.

In before Keeeeeed says this will make her a great candidate for the 2020 general.

seems like she has a ton of crossover appeal, in addition to being the first hot candidate for president.:heart_eyes::heart_eyes:

I think the Dems can do better than a mere 24% of Trump voters. Think how much crossover appeal they’ll get if they can convince Donald Trump Jr to run for the nomination.

Hey if DT Jr is, like Tulsi, in favor of Medicare for All, decreasing American interventionism and militarism, gay marriage, abortion rights, campaign finance reform, breaking up tech giants, restoring Glass-Steagall, college tuition reform, criminal justice reform, and pardoning Ed Snowden then sure why not. Bonus points if he endorsed Bernie Sanders in the 2016 primary battle. But I think that Don and Tulsi have some significant policy disagreements.
