figures
Magic is close. Heās done very well after basketball - mostly in real estate. And heās done a lot of good too, helping to develop nice properties in neighborhoods that could use them.
Jordan supposedly has >$1B
Neither Buffett nor Soros would be that good. Buffett has basically endorsed Bloomberg. I think Soros is pretty similar politically. Most billionaires would be terrible of course - Trumpishly bad - but Buffett and Soros would be like Amy Klobuchar at best. Steyer, who proposes a wealth tax, is better than either of those guys.
I think Soros is what youād call very liberal. Open society is about democracy and freedom of the press and stuff like that. But, heās a hedge fund dude and I donāt think heās looking to end or really modify capitalism. Maybe mitigate the ills through social welfare programs. I wouldnāt really expect Steyer to be that much different.
Broken clock
Jordan definitely has over a billion. Of course his most famous political quote is āRepublicans buy sneakers tooā so would assume he would be a terrible choice.
Donāt know much beyond her wikipedia, but what about Steve Jobsā wife?
Also what about Oprah?
Tom Steyer might actually be the answer.
God, not Mark Cuban. Cubanās a Republican and said if he ran heād do so as a Republican. The only reason he criticizes Trump is because his own fragile ego doesnāt like Trump touting being a billionaire when Cuban is a bigger/actual billionaire.
ETA: And not Oprah, either. Sheās a nutjob into every kind of woo woo. Sheāll have Ronnie and Nancyās psychic adviser on her frickinā staff.
ETA2: How about no fucking billionaires?
The most tolerable billionaire to run is the surviving Koch. I leave why that is as an exercise for the reader.
What about Mark Dayton, whose family founded Target? Heās an experienced politician who was a Senator and governor in Minnesota. He was one of 23 Senators to vote against the Iraq AUMF in 2002. After college, he spent a few years teaching in New York City public schools, hiding that he was rich.
I guess, technically, heās not a billionaire by himself, but the Dayton family is worth over a billion.
I might agree with her except for a couple things:
Marianne Williamson and Tulsi Gabbard. Also, the majority of people who have dropped out of the race so far areā¦guys!
Also, Iām shocked you haters havenāt gleefully posted this article, so Iāll do it, with one caveatā¦I LOVE this article. It makes me laugh. I want to drown in their whiny tears. Itās not really schadenfreude, but itās close. (also note who ISN"T quoted in this articleā¦Bernie and Warren or their staffers. Itās only the āmoderate laneā people.)
If you canāt come up with the organization, campaign staff, media strategy, and ground game (coupled with personal charisma) to poll higher than Peteā¦ima go out on a limb here and say thatās not really a Pete problemā¦thatās a you problem. The NYT has hated on Pete since the start (heās the only candidate they donāt have a reporter specifically assigned to), but I donāt think this article is going to have the intended effect. This is just manipulation to set up conflict for the next debate. Thatās gonna backfire, too, because the last thing Pete haters should want is to give him more time to talk at the debates.
Finally, one last note: I am so fucking sick of this narrative and the queer erasure with saying āPeteās just another white guyā. He is NOT. Pete can legally be fired from jobs in more than half the states in this country, including Indiana. Did you know that many states still honor the āgay panicā defense for murder or assault?
Also, TWO FUCKING DAYS ago the media narrative was that Peteās homosexuality was going to be this HUGE barrier to being electedā¦and now, TWO FUCKING DAYS later, the narrative is how heās just some privileged white guy who has it so easy?
GOPeteās problem is that he is GOPete.
You wanna know what helps a ground game?
Large donations.
oi, this again.
out of curiosity, if I offered Bernie a $2800 check, should he turn it down? Iām currently a poker dealer.
If my husband offered Bernie a $2800 check, should he turn it down? Heās a program manager at a defense contractor.
