What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas. Except Threesomes.

Bellagio is sadly now a pretty terrible property. Top of market prices, decidedly not top of market experience.

Palazzo / Venetian has a ton of good restaurants now. Maybe I’m just burned out on the Aria restaurants.

The only two things I get excited about Vegas for are Mad Greek on the way, and Stagecoach Deli in the Mirage.

Cut is the best steakhouse in the U.S.

Yeah if I ever had any friends that want to spend that much on dinner. They’re more of the buffet type.

2 summers ago, a friend took me and another guy to Cut. Was pretty great when I didn’t have to sweat the bill. We all had the American Wagyu. Delmonico there was good as well.

Lot of places I’d rather eat in Vegas than a steakhouse though.

I’ve never understood the appeal of steakhouses. Maybe I just haven’t been to the right one, but I would much rather spend $500 at elite non steakhouse restaurants.

As someone who likes staying at Bellagio, what am I missing?

I also think it’s a product of living in the Midwest / Plains. Like, I can eat at a really great steakhouse whenever I want. I can’t eat bomb Korean BBQ or world class Thai very often.

My main issue with steakhouses is that it’s really easy to cook a great steak at home. If I’m gonna pay a lot of money for a meal, I want it to be stuff I can’t do myself.

If you wants something that splits the difference Bazaar Meat, is good choice, imo. Went there a few years ago. It’s definitely not a classic steakhouse, but someone who is into that type of cuisine will be fine there.

That’s my issue as well, but it was only after I spent some quality time with the 22 steak thread. My stuff is not great compared to the pics most post, but still pretty great.

I feel the same from the other side. Steaks in the US are so much better than what I can find back home. That’s not so true for other cuisines.

Carnevino was pretty good before the dude got so toxic that even Sheldon couldn’t host him

If you’re ever in Guatemala City - this place has one of the best ribeyes I’ve ever had. And it’s not expensive by US standards at all.

Trip Advisor rates it #5 - so there might be some other amazing places around. Just don’t go walking around outside Zone 10 at night.

Anyone did Vegas with kids? My odds of actually going would increase if I take the wife and kid with me. It feels wrong but maybe there is a kid-friendly vegas.

I went to Bazaar Meat on somebody’s else’s dime. It was a pretty incredible experience. Highly recommended, especially if you aren’t paying.

Anyone tried the Omakase menu at Zuma?

There’s nothing wrong with Bellagio IMO, it’s just a lot of other strip casinos have really upped their game in the last decade yet Bellagio’s room rates still tend to be 2x what other places are despite not really being close to 2x the quality.

I always have a shitload of fun at the Flamingo. The rooms are fine, rates are good (although these $40 resort fees are getting out of hand), the pool is fun, there’s 1/1 PLO which is more my budget, and the location on the strip puts you in the middle of everything.

Bally’s is my other go to for the same reasons. I’m just curious what makes the properties that are nicer than Bellagio actually better?

Damn, a couple blocks from where I stayed and I didn’t even know it. To be fair though, I only stayed 2 nights, so didn’t have much time to explore.

GC is one of the few cities I’ve been in the last 10 years that I have no desire to go back to and don’t recommend to anyone. Just go straight to Antigua or Atitlán from the airport imo.
