Booked 5 nights in August at Park MGM. Taking the kids (23 and 21) for their last bit of Dad’s generosity and first taste of Vegas. Flights and rooms seem to be increasing in price daily; maybe that is function of current activity, and not actual capacity. Jetblue was expensive, but seat selection was wide open.
We might finally catch a show on this trip, thinking the Beatles one if it’s still around. Looking forward to the vegan tasting menu at Sage that someone mentioned, the neon museum, walking around in 100±degree heat, and playing some poker. I’m leaning toward not drinking, because playing it forward, what good will come out of it.
I’m sure there’s no checking. They just have to say it so that it matches the CDC rec. And most people who haven’t been vaxxed yet may never be, but were the first ones to demask.
Not sure about others, but i get sick in Vegas almost everytime. I’m pretty sure that after more than a year of not leaving the house, my immune system would crash vs a maskless full capacity vegas
I wonder, since flu cases never really materialized, if routine colds aren’t hanging out as much either these days. I’ve gotten sick in Vegas before as well. No fun.
Here’s something I was thinking about with respect to masks in LV (or really anywhere there is a casino). Was there ever any rule prohibiting masks at the table? I could imagine a mask being advantageous as far as hiding tells. Also casinos rely on facial recognition (I think) for various security features and masks would hinder those. So I could see people actually wanting to wear a mask for those reasons than anything related to infection prevention. But if that happens enough I can see a backlash where people complain and then poker rooms and casinos actually forbid masks.
A ski mask would probably raise some eyebrows still but no one is going to question the validity of the mouth and nose mask for a long time. I started seeing them in my poker room in early February 2020 and no one was questioning them even then.
Hopefully this also puts and end to the poker urban legend that having a hoodie up will nullify the BBJ due to camera recognition being a requirement for payout. In 2005 greektown kept their poker room at like 60 degrees and any time I’d put my hoodie up some old fucker would snap at me about it.
Thanks. Now I want someone to go in without a mask and mention that they’re unvaccinated. I’d bet that no one will do shit.
Edit: That part about “due to concerns about guest privacy, you should not ask” about vaccine status is kind of loltastic. After all, they’re assuming that all unmasked are vaccinated, so the only privacy they would be protecting is one involving them breaking the law (or at least the casino’s stated rules).
Also is says that businesses are not required to verify, but it doesn’t say they can’t do it. So they could, but obviously none will choose to attempt to do that.
