That list of What You Can Do is pretty dismal. Donate money and make sure to vote? That’s the best we’ve got?

There’s also number 4. Prepare to take to the streets and be prepared to stay there. I think that’s likely to be key.

It’s disgraceful the House isn’t holding daily hearings on this. Make them defy subpoenas and document requests and hold daily press conferences.

Quoting cuse from another thread.

I was able to get on the phone with a staffer for my representative, Carolyn Maloney, today and talk with them about the postal service issues. She’s actually been working on this already, and is going to be having a hearing with the Postmaster General on September 17th. Can’t hurt to contact your representatives and senators to let them know this is important to you.

lol

That would be Louis DeJoy, a donor and fund raiser for Captain ShitForBrains.

I’m sure she will receive a very sympathetic hearing.

I think you misunderstood. Maloney is the chairwoman of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, and she will be chairing a Congressional hearing where DeJoy has to testify.

Well you have to do something even if the outcome does look a foregone conclusion.

First of all, when you’re talking to GOP politicians about the Post office, do not mention voting. Nope, I’m serious. Say you can’t get your medication on time, you can’t pay your bills on time, you ca’t pay your taxes on time. That’s the language they speak. If you talk about voting, they’ll just laugh internally.

Second of all, there are hundreds of grassroots groups out there who are phone banking, writing postcards, textbanking, etc. A lot of them rotate which candidates they support, or causes, many of them list their events on here:

I know it’s the DNC and we hate them, but they allow pretty much any democratic group to use that site/tool, so find something and sign up.

Search facebook or google for local groups or events and find neighbors taking action that way. Yes FB is evil but it’s also effective for organizing.

Encourage everyone you know to request their mailin ballot early, and to send it in immediately (Oct 13th at the latest). Every state has different request windows, you’ll have to visit your county registrar of voters site to determine that. Many are open for requesting NOW.

If you really don’t trust the mail, I’m pretty sure that every county allows you to drop your ballot off at the registrar.

If you want to donate money to down ballot candidates, but can’t decide who, there are several PACs out there who take donations and split them. Many of the former presidential candidates have them, as well as other groups and unions.

Good point. I mentioned both, but tried to play the moderate. I also informed them that I’ve voted for candidates from both parties before and he’ll never get my vote if he doesn’t act on this. He’s never getting it anyway of course.

Trump is preparing to challenge this in swing states.

fuck, I don’t even have a representative to call. LOL

The most apolitical friend I have from college told me if I look up her officials for her and draft and email, she’ll send it. Sadly she’s in Massachusetts so they may not need much encouragement but it’s a good sign if she recognizes the threat.

Also is there a better pair of Senators than Warren and Markey?

They aren’t better, but Hawaii’s probably come the closest.

Got through to a Cuomo staffer after waiting on hold for almost an hour. She said she hadn’t heard about this issue before, but she would pass my concerns along to the governor.

Schumer and Gillibrand are voicemail only at this point, so I left messages for them.

A Cuomo staffer hadn’t heard about what’s going on with the postal service?

A motherfucking political staffer for the goddamn governor of New York hadn’t heard yet???

We are so fucking fucked.

another plan is to not postmark them then challenge the ballots for not being postmarked.

well that’s as stupid as it sounds so even a rw judge might not let that fly but who the **** knows what judge he’d actually get, and if it goes to SCOTUS, you’re now relying on mr. I’m perfectly fine suppressing all votes as the swing judge.

but they might just have the GOP legislatures all insist the day of is the only thing that counts for electoral votes… I know that sounds ridiculous but if I can think of crazy shit so did at least one of them.

I’m still using the post office but man it’s gonna suck. They literally just destroyed the machines or threw them in dumpsters, there is no fixing this–can we defeat the fucking ghouls first before we fight amongst ourselves again?

I’m writing nastygrams to all of my representatives.
