Newsom seems to be talking about the ICE kidnappings there and not the National Guard. And that’s what would make sense, since the National Guard had a very small presence there today - not nearly as big as the California Highway Patrol which are headed by a Newsom appointee.

That’s all I saw. They were in front of the federal detention center, which does keep undocumented people who have been kidnapped by the US government.
Newsom interview here is interesting to me. I think it’s work watching the first 8 minutes or so.
Newsom is obviously an amoral opportunist right? I don’t think he cares about what’s right or wrong, he only cares what he thinks will increase his chances of gaining power and prestige.
So I find it interesting that he directly calls out the ICE raids and calls for DHS to try to arrest him, saying “Let’s go”. He states they will sue over the national guard deployment.
This is the guy who was holding hands with right wing chuds a few weeks ago, seems like he feels that things are changing, which I find interesting

People have mentioned the LAPD, but I didn’t notice any. CHP and Sheriffs. The Sheriffs work for the county and not the city. It is possible Karen Bass is keeping the LAPD out and people are just saying LAPD when it’s really Los Angeles Sheriffs.
What does this entail exactly?
Glendale is where I live. There was a contract where ICE detainees could be held in the local jail, and that is what was terminated. It rarely happened so this is symbolic only.
But I’m still pleased they did it.

Hypothetically, if every illegal immigrant went on strike for a month. whats the result? from big business and from main street?
Construction stalls, food doesn’t get cooked at restaurants, dishes don’t get cleaned at restaurants, hotel rooms don’t get cleaned, offices don’t get cleaned. Crops don’t get harvested. Some factories have to shut down. I don’t know how you get people living paycheck to paycheck to give up their paychecks though.
A complete collapse of the US economy. Well maybe not one month but if they ever did stop for good that would be the end of America as a leading economic nation.
