2nd place and 5pts for this scene from Raise the Red Latern by Rexx of Team Sardine. This had the disadvantage (I think) of being the only movie on the list that I haven’t seen. Still, it’s not hard to get the impact and I looked up some info on the movie. I like the filming. It’s kinda Kubrickish. (foreshadowing)
And the Walrus goes to smrk4. Probably not even the scene I’d pick from this movie. Maybe not even the segment I’d pick from the whole ape scene. But still, Walrus and 6pts.
GOAT
hey @microbet you’re doing a great job and i’ma let you finish but The Aviator was scorsese’s best film!
You talkin’ to me?
I don’t know about best, but criminally underrated, and now that microbet is done scoring I can say that it lost Best Picture to the even more criminally overrated Clint Eastwood joint Million Dollar Baby.
You weren’t really in danger of not Walrusing here.
I saw The Aviator when it came out in 2004 and not since. Maybe a rewatch some day.
Never seen that.
It was excellent and a crowning achievement for how good it was after so many others had concluded a biopic about Hughes was impossible.
After that, also watch the biopic The Hoax starring Richard Gere about a guy who conned a major publishing house into believing he had a super close exclusive relationship with Howard Hughes to write his biography.
Big GONY fan, so off brand tho.
Who is your daddy and what does he do?
BEST SCENE IN A CHILDREN’S MOVIE
Fifth place
@King_of_NY (1 pt)
The Whale Rider
This looks like a great kids movie that got rave reviews. It’s only down here because I shamefully have never seen it, and Walrus is a game where you pay for the host’s lack of culture.
Fourth place
@beetlejuice (2 pts)
the scene in spirited away where the spirit of the river saves the protoganist
There’s really no good reason for this to be so low. It’s a Miyazaki film made by Studio Ghibli. Legendary.
But my boy beetle was too busy practicing his Orion solo for a different Walrus to find a proper clip, costing him dearly.
Third place
@Rexx (3 pts)
Lassie Come Home-my Lassie come home
Such a classic, and Rexx is cheating by submitting a movie starring a dog, about a dog, written by a dog. I don’t know if it’s that good a movie, but puppies deserve at least third place.
Now would be a good time to tell you about my first dog, given to me at the ripe age of–
–not that there’s anything wrong with that.
Second place
@DodgerIrish (4 pts)
The Lion King-to die for scene
Leave it to a remake to show us why the original was GOAT.
And that brings us to the one, the only that delivers every single time, OH BABY
WALRUS
@smrk4 (5 pts)
The Princess Bride-INCONCEIVABLE
I assume this is a take everyone will agree with. And if you disagree?
