zomg podium?

Well, it was submitted by Seities but unfortunately it only got third. Still, on the podium! The top three actually didn’t change much for me upon repeat listens although I wasn’t sure which to place second and which third.

Temple of the Dog - Hunger Strike

I was pretty sure that I was going to hate any song by a band called “Temple of the Dog” but then I started it up and realized what song it was. Just magnificent performances by Chris and Eddie. Maybe it shouldn’t work but it does. Another fairly popular song but one that I had completely forgotten about, and it’s always better to be reminded of songs you liked.

W00t! My best finish in a reveal :-)

I have to be careful when I listen to this song as it tends to hit me in the feels. Glad you liked it.

Cornell on the song:

When we started rehearsing the songs, I had pulled out “Hunger Strike” and I had this feeling it was just kind of gonna be filler, it didn’t feel like a real song. Eddie was sitting there kind of waiting for a (Mookie Blaylock) rehearsal and I was singing parts, and he kind of humbly—but with some balls—walked up to the mic and started singing the low parts for me because he saw it was kind of hard. We got through a couple choruses of him doing that and suddenly the light bulb came on in my head, this guy’s voice is amazing for these low parts.

HOW DARE YOU

Oh, never mind then. Glad you liked it. Good job!

In second place, for the silver medal, is Eyebooger with

The Bouncing Souls - Wish Me Well (You Can Go to Hell)

Much like their name implies, this is a bouncy, silly, breakup jaunt. I’ve heard of the Bouncing Souls but can’t remember ever having heard a song by them before. Feels like a risky pick where someone will either really like it or basically hate it but lucky for Eyebooger I can dig this. It’s the kind of song that I’ll listen to twice in a row because it’s so snappy. Nice choice!

Nicely done Eyebooger! Love it when a risk pays off in a Walrus.

If I’m not mistaken that just leaves mah bae Mr Truant to jump up on first and proudly hoist a can of beans in celebration!!!

Goddamit rules are made to be broken dontyaknow?! Glad you liked it, a couple more of his d̶u̶e̶t̶s̶ collaborations you might like:

That leaves our first place finisher, an absolute monster home run pick from JohnnyTruant

Camp Lo - Luchini AKA This Is It

Let’s see what our confident submitter wrote to accompany his entry: won’t win but it’s a perfect song. Well well well, now who has egg on his face? Perhaps you took my comments about not knowing much music from my high school days to heart, but I do in fact remember some music from that era and Camp Lo’s Uptown Saturday Night is among my favorites. I’m not sure if it’s a perfect song but it’s at least damn close and it’s our category 2 walrus.

Scores after 2 rounds, sorry for the lack of organization.

Another great reveal. Thanks Jiggy! Appreciate the time you are putting in to brighten our days in isolation.

I look forward to a rapid descent in the rankings over the coming rounds.

Not looking good for our hero in the perennial seities-cassette showdown.

I haven’t started listening to round 3 yet so reveal might not be for a little while. I do know at least some of the songs that were submitted but have to be thorough and go over even the stuff I know a few times.

I fully expect you to make a comeback and dash my dreams like you have in every other Walrus

Surprised nobody submitted either of these iconic pop-music duets of the 80s:

I also considered something by Tony Bennett with either Amy Winehouse or Lady Gaga. Tony’s still got it.

Such a good song choice

Alternate spousal entry. Better or worse than Under Pressure?

Not sure, probably around the same if I’m being honest.

This was one of the ones I thought I’d have nothing for. Maybe this?
