almost submitted this:
but not enough talking about how we’re living in a dream
I have only listened to one song so far and I am already certain you made a mistake putting this in last place. Well, another mistake because let’s face it ‘Christ or Cocaine’ is a great song. Oh, and you also put The Pretty Reckless at the bottom. That’s three strikes. I think this means the whole reveal for this category is invalid.
No one likes a know it all
Seems strange for her to do a cover of an atheist declaration song. But of course a glorious day for Canada, and therefore the world.
I mentioned Aretha and deciding between her and Carole King in my write up.
Thanks. I fixed the standings.
Meh thought that one gave me the best chance at a good finish. Pretty sure that my other stuff is probably to mainstream and not unknown enough for the revealers.
Should also deactivate notifications. As soon as I saw the number on my avatar I knew I my song was already revealed and it could have gotten far.
Some of these entries (cough) were Eurovision level awfulness.
Like, I’m trying to keep it together and all that, but three last places is tough to take. @Rivaldo may have handed one down, but he strikes me as a righteous motherfucker and my only hope. Come back!
Like I always said - finishing last in one of these can be a badge of honour.
I liked your submission for this category, and the next time I’m cleaning stuff for an hour, you can start me off on a pandora/spotify journey with any seed song/artist of your choice. Last time Jalfrezi started me off with Brian Eno and after I realized that his ambient sleep music was to be skipped, I got a bunch of good stuff, including the gem “Dead Finks Don’t Talk” which I’ve played at least 10 times since.
PJ Harvey, Sudan Archives, and Nina (holy shit) doing it for me this round. Thanks, all.
This is the first one of these I’ve read and really wish I’d gotten involved earlier. I don’t think I know enough cool music to compete with the heavy hitters but seems fun either way and you learn about a lot of artists you might not otherwise have found. The movie one just seems impossible for me though.
fwiw if I only have limited time to listen to submissions yours will be one of the ones I make sure to check out, and it’s precisely because they often come in last.
Truthfully a lot of the time I might have ranked it pretty low myself because it wouldn’t make it onto my regular playlist, but I feel like because your picks are so different to music I might usually listen to it has a chance to open up a new genre for me.
Judging a Walrus is a ton of work. For my Walrus I got 9h of music to listen to. I listened to each one at least 3 times. Yes, that includes Jalfrezi’s 20 minute epic. To some I have listened more than 10 times. That’s days of listening to music. Even if you only listen to each song just once it’s a lot to ask from a dozen or so people. Then you have to rank them.
Another drawback is that you cannot tailor your submissions to the judge. My submissions for Rexx would look very different than the songs I’d choose for pyatnitski. I am afraid this would result in a lot more generic picks.
you guys are too cute and junkies, but I’m not gonna do my remaining categories.
just wanted to make that clear, so that peeps aren’t holding out hope.
I apologize for reneging on my commitment.
Why?
Just not willing to dedicate the time.
You should have thought about that before you decided to host.
lol funny
