This felt more like an electronic song which is understandable given that other bands use the sound to replace a guitar. However, this doesn’t feel like rock at all. It’s not exactly a bad song. It’s just not good and something that I wouldn’t listen to again.
Well it would have been funny if “pick a random song from the guitarless bands list” had won. But alas it came in last, as it deserved. Although I do kind of like the song.
Okay, things step up in quality a bit starting from here in that we actually have what I consider a rock song. When I first heard the song, it sounds like the music from a Dude Perfect video. That’s not a bad thing. Those songs tend to be a bit catchy. I guess this one is a bit simple though. Sounds like something I wouldn’t mind hearing in the background of a bar or something like that.
I don’t think there’s anything necessarily wrong with this song. But to me, it has a sort of droning sounds that kinda bores me a bit in the beginning. It picks it up a bit later on but not enough to be ranked higher.
I kept flipping back and forth between “Trouble’s Coming” and “Crazy”. Couldn’t decide which one would be 5th. I like this song more but it’s more indie pop rather than rock. I’m still not completely comfortable with either position but this is how I will set them.
Yeah, this is mine. I found alot of my electronic rock bands have a guitar player and remembered Au Revoir Simone on stage in Twin Peaks with 3 keyboards.
Meaning that it’s podium time! Guess a couple of you are gonna have to share bronze here.
Tied for 3rd (6.5 points)
Royal Blood - “Out of the Black”
To be honest, I feel that hearing this Royal Blood song probably made me dislike the other RB song a bit more than I should because this one is just so much better. Like way, way better. I mean this is the type of song I was looking for.
And it would’ve been first if two songs weren’t picked that came completely out of left field in this category. They sounded completely different from what I was expecting and that’s what took me by surprise.
