That’s good. I realize now that I’ve committed myself to twice the work because there’s no way I can do this properly without listening to the original version of each song.

You don’t have to; most people just judge based on which songs they like best; but some give points for different criteria and one of yours could be if it’s different or note for note with original like you mentioned.
I should revise my earlier comment - more like a lack of podium tracks and not actually that many nodium songs. Anyway looking forward to today’s reveal and doing my own at some point.
