Interesting, a friend whose opinion I trust says this game does all the right things but isnā€™t actually that much fun to play when you get down to it. Have you played Hollow Knight? I feel like you said you did at some point but could be wrong. Thats my current favorite in the genre. Currently playing through Ori which is also quite fun but the lousy combat keeps it from true greatness.

Maybe? Im about 8 hours in and really enjoying it. No idea how much of the map Ive actually cleared but Ive killed my fair share of fun/hard bosses. Trying different skill combos to determine what works best is really interesting. It reminds me a bit more of something like Rogue Legacy than Hollow Kinght, though not with the same permadeath/offspring with traits conceit.

Coincidentally Iā€™m currently slogging through bloodstained and would place it well below hollow knight and dead cells. Find the more or less unavoidable damage mechanics pretty irritating.

I do love Rogue Legacy, like way more than is probably warranted. Dead Cells is at the top of my want list for Switch, just waiting to get a decent sale.

I played Slay the Spire the past couple of days and itā€™s a very addictive and fun game. Thanks again.

Soā€¦ my wife played Disco Elysium, and loved it, full praise, awesome timeā€¦ and then it ended after 20 hours, after promissing 40+

She was not happy about that. It seems really dumb for this company with an awesome game to overinflate their gameplay time and alienate those who finish it fairly quickly

i just finished Disco Elysium yesterday and it took exactly 40 hours. and i only played through on one of the character types

So AGDQ just ended. I still stand by they arenā€™t doing all they should on the eventā€¦but it has still become an event. That being said a few runs to check out if you are interested

How can we make blindfolded Mike Tysonā€™s Punchout more difficult???

Bullet hell Japanese Shmup (something like gradius). If you watch only run that I link make it this. Good fucking god, running this in a marathon.

Somehow Ocarina of Time keeps getting more and more broken every year. 2 hours and 50 minutes to 100% the game. Like they apparently just discovered a massive Deku Tree glitch earlier that monthā€¦and this glitch occurs like an hour into the run. Then there is the glitch to get full hearts. Yeah game is fucking broken.

Wind Waker is also fucking broken. Here it is getting beaten in 1 hour and 14 minutes.

Link to the past randomizer where twitch chat can mess with the game with donations. Probably not watching for the whole 3 hours 41 minutes. But its fun for a bit.

I canā€™t think of very many things less fun than watching someone glitch a video game.

Speed running is an incredibly fun hobby and has a huge following.

fixed that for you.

I guess Iā€™m too old school (or too much of a gamer), but twitch and game streaming has never appealed to me. why the fuck do I want to watch some dumbass play a game when I could actually be playing it myself? The games Iā€™d even think about watching are all things I either already own or will eventually, so why fucking bother?

Pretty much this.

Also I will NEVER be as good at any of these games as the guys streaming.

in my hearthstone heyday it was really fun climbing to high ranks and playing against some of my streamer heroes, one turned out to be a massive dbag

I wish I could somehow give that experience to people. It was so fucking awesome. I canā€™t describe it well.

Seems like a flawed analogy. Iā€™m definitely not capable of playing any of the sports I watch, but Iā€™m perfectly able to play video games.

Are there sports you can play and enjoy playing that you donā€™t watch?

Iā€™ll usually pick a couple games that I used to play (or maybe still play) and just watch them easily dominate stuff where I struggle hard. Itā€™s sort of like watching incredible athletes but not really.

Watching streamers doesnā€™t appeal to me personally but I certainly donā€™t have a problem with it; I actually follow a lot of streamers on Twitter because I like their personalities, I just donā€™t watch their streams very often if ever. Someone described video game streaming as a modern version of a talk show and I like that analogy, itā€™s all basically the same shit (jokes, sketches, interviews, games) but youā€™re spending time with someone because you like them on a personal level.
