Horizon Zero Dawn: Forbidden West came with my PS5. Haven’t played the first one, but I’m enjoying this so far.
This just reminds me that my MIL promised to get our son a PS5 for Christmas 2020 and that promise has just disappeared into the ether. I mean, understandably, but she famously goes to insane efforts to get people hard-to-get gifts. (For beer nerds, she was able to get me 6 bottles of Goose Island’s original Vanilla Bourbon County Stout in 2010 when it was extremely hard to come by.)

How did you score the PS5? Maybe it will be of interest to spidercrab’s MIL as well. I see sometimes you can register to get one on Amazon or from Sony Playstation Direct
Another single player expansion for Gwent has been released for Gwent (10 €).
It’s a roguelike. Steam reviews are mixed. I will give it a try when I have the time.

I signed up for Playstation Direct, and actually got invitations to buy one a couple times. Unfortunately those emails went to my “promotion” inbox, and I didn’t see them until the offer expired.
A few weeks ago, the Sony website had some PS5s for sale that didn’t require an invitation. The standalone consoles were sold out, but I was able to get a console with a disc drive bundled with HZD:FW.

Anyone have recommendations for a console game with a competitive ranked mode? Pretty much over the BR genre at this point. Halo is stale. I thought about R6 Siege but the barrier of entry is insane.

Pretty insane “TAS” of Ocarina of Time at GDQ last week.
The ostensible premise is that the runners use a TAS bot (a device that enters pre-programmed controller inputs very quickly) with arbitrary code execution to unlock unused assets in the game. This is accurate but it becomes clear that what they’re really showcasing is not unused assets, but the truly shocking extent to which the game can be warped with just controller inputs. The live audience gave it a standing ovation and I got a little misty-eyed. Definitely the best GDQ showcase I’ve seen, and I’m not even a Zelda fan.

Finally got a PS5, played Demon’s Souls since it’s the only Souls-Borne game I haven’t played.
Pretty underwhelming, but I guess it was the precursor to the Dark Souls games.
Sekiro is still my favorites Souls-Borne game.
