Goofball’s day >>>>>my day

Got my YOLO tarmac bets down.

Chelsea PK +110 vs Arsenal
Bryce Harper home runs over 0.5 +350
Blazers over 28.5 regular season wins.

that’s a parlay basically of staying alive until late April. Seems too risky.

We like James Madison and Marshall

Still drunk in the am

Blackjack- lost
5/10 NL - lost
20/40 - brutalised

Find a boombox (do they still exist?) and walk down the strip blasting this imo.

Lolllllllllll I just remembered telling some guy celebrating his 21st bday who was playing 6:5 blackjack that was he was losing his money 5x faster and he could go play 3:2 and have a bigger shot (at 6am walking back after I broke the 20/40)

Run bad or outplayed?

How did you find the 20/40? I played a bit this past weekend and I thought it was pretty soft and I haven’t played poker since the last time I was at Bellagio which was just before COVID. If I think it’s soft, either my sensors are completely out of whack, or it is soft AF.

For example, I ran into someone with near 100% reliable live tell. You could tell with almost perfect accuracy post flop when he was going to check if the action was checked to him.

Ah a misunderstanding here.

I brutalized the 20/40 game, it didn’t brutalize me. It’s incredibly soft, and I played for several hours 3 and 4 handed and those players are simply not equipped to deal playing against me 3 to 4 handed especially when I’ve been drinking. They gave themselves no chance to win, probably because 3 handed I was straddling on the button and they thought that was a fish move, when it is in fact a great move

LOL. I also played 3-4 handed for several hours. No one straddled, so I guess it wasn’t when you were around.

I only broke even which I’m chalking up to a combo of running pretty bad and needing several hours to remember how to play again. I’ve played literally zero poker since my last trip there in 2019.

40-80 looked tougher. Never got into the game. Did you have a chance to try that out?

My late night session was thurs into Friday about 6am. I was in the 2/3 seat with a pile of unstacked chips. You almost certainly would have remembered me as I was being pretty obnoxious.

I did play some 40 and it was terrible when I was in it. Didn’t stay long as it was terrible.

I never really thought about this before but seems correct. Has anyone run some numbers on this? What percentage of your range do you 3-bet (when 3 handed). If you were as drunk as you sound, I assume it was most of it.

I haven’t run numbers but it seems pretty clearly correct.

The reasons are two fold

  1. You should be raising most of the time anyway
  2. You get to 3bet your good hands (especially knowing that your opponents just called, with them knowing that you had straddled)

Yeah, that makes sense. I also just realized that I had forgotten exactly how straddling worked until I read your post. I told you it had been a long time since I played!

I must have just missed you. I didn’t really start putting in serious hours until late Friday morning.

I’m just sad we didn’t get the mirror version of this story where Melk comes in talking about this goofy fella who kept straddling the button.

Like the famous Douglas Adams story about him sitting down to eat a packet of crackers, when bizarrely the guy sitting across from him reaches over, opens the packet, and takes a cracker.

Douglas Adams is British so lets it slide, then gingerly takes one of the crackers for himself. Except then the other guy takes another cracker! And they continue this until all of the crackers are gone.

The guy gets up and leaves.

And then DA moves his newspaper and sees his unopened packet of crackers. His point is that they both now have the exact same story, but only one of them has the punchline.

We might be the only two who play LHE here, so I guess this is probably a fine place to discuss strat. I’ve been thinking about this a bit more and I had some questions.

  1. I can imagine raising “most of the time” being good against certain opponents and if you have cultivated a certain image, but if we’re playing against solid players, then are we really raising >50% of hands on the button?

  2. Imagine that it is now four-handed and cutoff straddles. If you’re on the button would you say re-straddling 100% of the time in that spot is correct?

Also unrelated to above, I noticed that the tables were 8 handed. Is that standard now? Or is it just a Bellagio thing? Remember, I almost never play anywhere.
