A lot of reports that the SDF has reached an agreement with the Regime. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Firstly just if itās true, it has been reported before but nothing came of it. Secondly if itās possible for it to be implemented. The US troops have still not left the country so it would be very tricky for Regime forces to take up positions in front of the Turkish backed forces without cooperation, most likely withdrawal. Most of the people in US politics upset about the betrayal are those who would prefer to stay in Syria and combat the Regime so Iād expect opposition to allowing it, though how exactly they express that I donāt know.
Donāt know whatās going to happen, hopefully the Turkish advance stops whatever happens.
Edit - I donāt expect Regime and Turkish backed forces to fight here, Iām sure an agreement that gets implemented would come with a deal between Putin and Erdogan included. Iām sure it would involve the Regime securing a border, though, thus needing Regime forces in front of the Turkish ones.
Also talk of Russians taking up US positions.
Wow. Well, if thatās happening then itās on, I suppose. Iām sure the media will mostly come out against it, but itās the quickest way to stop the killing.
The Syrian regime is the rational partner for the PYD/SDF/Rojava. They are the military in the area that has planes and anti-aircraft and stuff. They are aligned in interest against ISIS. The US has been playing both sides all along, fighting ISIS while supplying Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Russiaās interests, in that they are less aligned with SA, and the terrorist threats inside Russia are more aligned with ISIS/Al Queda and the like, are closer to the interests of Rojava.
A UN action would be good for Rojava because the UN actually doesnāt like genocide, but the US and NATO are not really good partners.
I agree it is probably the best achievable outcome. Tragically a lot of that is because of how utterly awful the people invading. I certainly wouldnāt want to be a visible politician or activist from Rojava once the Regime rolls in to town.
One thing Iāve been thinking of posting, and now seems as good a time as any, was my disgust at people like Brett McGurk. The jihadist militia responsible for the awful things in this thread are the same as the militia that the US trained and armed under his watch. So, whatever happens now (hopefully something good), fuck that guy and other US Syria hawksā crocodile tears.
The premise of Russia not benefitting from these events is ridiculous.
I said that if it lead to a deal it would benefit Russia. If it ends up getting implemented and ending the violence Iāll be delighted my pessimism was misplaced. My point that the Turkish forces are jihadist scum seems sadly pretty evident.
Jihadist scum allied with mafia scum, perfect bedfellows for tRUmp.

You guys are doing an outstanding job aggregating news, right now my Twitter is pushing NFL news and some Fortnite goings-on at me. I donāt even play Fortnite but Twitter wants me to know about that instead of Syria.
